Know what’s in or out of your control. Before you go to bed, write down your worries and separate them into two spheres: things that are in your control and things that aren’t. Put your mind at ease by creating actions for the things you can control, and don’t give things out of your control a second thought.

Try 4-7-8 breathing Breathe in for four, hold for seven and breathe out for eight. Repeat this for a few minutes and notice relaxation ripple through your body.

Get out of bed If you're tossing and turning for more than 20 minutes, get out of bed and go to another room. Staying in bed for too long when you can’t sleep trains the brain that the bed is associated with not sleeping.
