Publisher's Summary

You always remember your first love. Don't you?

It began with four words.

I love your laugh. x

But that was 12 years ago. It really began the day Georgina was fired from The Worst Restaurant in Sheffield (TripAdvisor) and found The Worst Boyfriend in the World (Georgina's best friends) in bed with someone else.

So when her new boss, Lucas McCarthy, turns out to be the boy who wrote those words to her all that time ago, it feels like the start of something.

The only problem? He doesn't seem to remember Georgina at all.

Beautiful writing

This story had a perfect dose of charm in the way it’s written. Her descriptions were beautiful and made you feel part of the characters mind and story. The narrator was great too. I will be looking for more by this author.

The author has a great understanding of human behaviour, especially that of an eager to please teenage girl! Really well written, made me cry!

A great read (well, audio read).

Mhairi McFarlane's "Don't You Forget About Me" was so good! I loved Georgina- a really well-rounded person with great character development. I really appreciated that Mhairi fleshed out a lot of the minor characters as well. Madeline Gould's narration was fabulous.

Thank you Mhairi.

I'm 59 years old in a relationship, but I was transported back to my youth when it was so hard to be a girl, wanting to be a woman, in the 1970's when sexual promiscuity was expected, then ridiculed by the popular boys. The quiet, shy boys, who became my friends, grew up to be handsome, successful men. The popular boys, often stayed as boys, and their looks faded, their belts loosened and they drifted along. Not always the case, but it was noticeable to me.
Thank you for sharing your wisdom, and enlightenment about young love, family love and self-love, all part of a woman's journey.

beautiful love story

I really like all of McFarlane’s books , and this one didn’t disappoint.
It’s a love story , but with depth and insight. The main characters issues and flaws are very relatable.

Highly recommend

Fantastic (Especially for Rom Com Fans)

Excellent performance and SUPERBLY written, this more than satisfied my Bridget-Jones-Four-Weddings-Golden-Era-Rom-Com itch. It has a backbone of real emotion, is very enjoyably witty, and has a genuinely likeable heroine. I can't wait to read/listen to more from this author.

Amazing book

love this audiobook so much, hung on every word and was eager to follow the choices and events that the main character experienced, a truely relatable and surprising book.

It may take years, but things do come full circle

Loved this book. The intro leaves you hanging and you don't find out what sparked all the subsequent events until the end, in one very drama and emotional scene. It's got a lovely ending, but the story and journey there are just as good, if not better.

I think I'd listen again to this one.

Do not forget

The story line kind of predictable, several unnecessary side kicks. Liked the narrator with a northern English accent.

Brilliant to the last second

It's so good with genuine laugh out loud moments and ends in the most heartfelt way. Definitely a romcom worth reading. Easy going and light; an audiobook I didn't want to put down!
