Publisher's Summary

Our bedtime stories are designed to let you drift off with no nagging feeling that you need to listen through to the end. Their purpose is to let you slowly fall into peaceful, restful sleep.

With that in mind, we present actor Broadway and big-screen star Phillipa Soo reading Chinese fables and folk stories. These traditional tales have a long oral history dating back to the Middle Kingdom of old.

Phillipa Soo originated the role of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton in Broadway’s critically acclaimed Hamilton, which earned her a Tony and an Emmy nomination and a Grammy win. A graduate of Julliard, she is presently playing Guenevere in Aaron Sorkin’s revival of Lerner & Loewe’s Camelot and is starring in the film adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel One True Loves opposite Simu Liu.

Soo currently resides in New York City.

Soo Dreamy

What a great set of stories to relax and drift off to. The stories are lovely , to say the least. I still have not got past the 2nd story before drifting off to sleep.
The narration is superb and perfectly matched. I have been slowing the playback speed slightly just to make Phillipa’s voice even more dreamy.
A great team effort and matching.
Well done!

Hamilton actress

Loved the soothing stories, but with made it even better was Phillipa Anne Soo she originally played Eliza in the Broadway production of Hamilton and so many other amazing roles
so it was so cool hearing her tell stories
All in all super great, and put me asleep right away

Will listen again- very relaxing

I grew up reading fables and moral-based stories, and now that I'm older learning these same type of stories from other cultures is even better.
The narrator's voice is calming after a long day. The only complaint is I wish there was a different way of separating the stories. It seems each rolls into the next. Perhaps a longer pause before the title?? Still, I love it. Five stars all the way!

Negative Energy

Selfish. Tricks you with beautiful writing and presentation. But the story is one of selfish love not compromise or resolution.

Long winded and doesn’t make a point

I was hoping for fairytales like you would expect from Hans Christian Andersen or the Brothers Grimm. These fables are slow and don’t have much of a point. The performance was very flat.

The weak and poor can’t be around the rich and strong? Seriously?

Couldn’t get past the horrible message of the first story. Sleep stories shouldn’t keep you up at night.

Delightful collection

I liked that all these fables had a distinct message. I really appreciated that there was more than one story to listen to. Narrator was great and it was interesting to read stories from a culture different from my own.

Enchanting Stories

Beautifully read and each teaches a truth. Wish the current rulers would listen and learn as we should. Excellent but not read at bedtime though peaceful. They should be read and remembered.

Listen and learn!

I loved these stories! The moral they teach is wonderful! More people should listen and learn about co-existing, respecting and understand one another while on this planet.
I highly recommended it!
