What would you do if there weren't any consequences?

After 20 years on the force, Detective Chief Inspector Jack Logan thinks he has seen it all.

He is wrong.

When a nurse is murdered on her way home from nightshift, Jack and his team go on the hunt for her killer.

As more victims are uncovered, Jack finds himself tracking a murderer afflicted by a unique psychosis - one that leaves him free to maim and kill without a shred of remorse.

Facing a new type of killer in an unfamiliar city, DCI Jack Logan is about to be pushed to his limits, before being forced to realize just how little he truly knows.

The Killing Code is the third DCI Jack Logan crime thriller, and perfect for fans of Ian Rankin, Chris Brookmyre, and LJ Ross.

Jolly good yarn

I liked this. Great characters although I do think jack logan is a bit unreal. Still it is a story. It’s not supposed to be real. I have enjoyed this book the best. I think the new book will be out soon. Looking forward to that.

fantastic read

Another great book, Logan is a very down to earth likeable character. Thoroughly enjoying this series so a couple of late nights were in order to finish it.
Narrator is so adept at defining the characters it's enjoyable to listen to ( can't beat a good scottish/Brit story teller) hence 99% of my library are UK authors.
Great storyline from start to finish, can't wait for the next book. ( please write quicker)

Another cracker

Great story, lots of twists and turns, interesting plot lines. I really like the characters, poor Logan needs a wee bit of light relief and a whole lot of good luck. The narrator is absolutely brilliant, he brings the characters to life. I'm going to download the next installment straight away.

Fantastic characters and plot

DCI Logan is everything you want your police officers to be - tough, gritty, but caring. I adore him and hope for more books in the series. Three is not enough.

The story is great, the characters compelling. And I love that Scottish accent. Wonderful narration.

Brilliant yet again, & the narrator is perfect!!!

Another great listen in the series. Gripping all the way. Highly recommended. One warning though-There is significant talk about tiredness, sleep & fatigue. I wouldn't recommend this for company on a long drive.
I can't wait to work through more of this awesome series!!!

Dear JD Kirk - Please Write Fast ~ !

Holy Moose - what a fantastic writer enhanced by an amazing performer. Simply thrilled to have a new series (to me) to follow. I listened to the books back-to-back and cannot wait for #4. Great characters, great pace, just enough humor. Simply excellent.

Fun book, great narrator

I never thought I would appreciate a really excellent narration--I believed a performance rather than a good but straight forward reading would interfere with the vision of the characters I could imagine and would just irritate me. Angus King has changed my mind about that-- his narration of this series is just outstanding. King's characterization of a knucklehead can make you burst out laughing. And I really savor the lovely Scottish accent. The book itself has what I like most in a police procedural: good, decent characters who are also often funny --people who I enjoy spending many hours with--and the good guys win.

Another good read!

Another good read. The story line, characters, the villain, the reader all top notch. Funny in a smart way. If I had any complaint about all the books it would be you never know why the killers are the way they are or why they do it. I guess in a way it’s not as important as to what they are doing and the way the good guys understand him enough to catch him. Also like the “ whisper” thread that flows through.

Why can’t a serial killer just be a serial killer

Why do they always have these strange weird raspy voices. Is that the way all serial killers sound? They don’t make it more interesting for me. They actually make me feel stupid for listening. It’s too bad. This author has a lot of talent and the narrator is good. Another miracle rescue at the end of the book. Of course. Same ole same ole for me. Took a lot of breaks and struggled to finish this one.

Good book, but thank goodness for fast forward

I really enjoy this series, and the narration is superlative - it really brings the action and characters to life. Maybe a little too much alive. I had to FF through the creepy parts! I sometimes wonder if anyone except me thinks that authors sometimes compete to describe the most awful things that murderers do.

A great police procedural

I love this series - the narrator/author combo is great and I love the narrator’s voices and the author’s humor. While this book was a good story, I was disappointed that there wasn’t as much humor or use of the narrator’s great voice range. I still chuckled a few times and enjoyed some characters conversation but not as much as in the first two books. It’s still a solid police procedural but I’d like to see a return to the humor and characters in the next one. I eagerly anticipate the fourth book.

Fun book

Full of unique characters and colorful colloquialisms, it’s a crime detective novel that entertains. I’ve enjoyed all of the books in this series so far, and I’ll admit that hearing “there’s scarcely enough room in ‘ere to swing a cat” lightens the mood admirably. Good fun

*FU* is every other word

If you don't mind a very liberal use of the "F" word, I guess it's OK but I had a hard time with that and had to return it.

Gripping

Reasonably well written but rather drawn out at times to be honest. Enjoyed it overall but felt some of the narration let it down. Some of the accents grated and occasionally the main characters voice changed too much. The character of the most senior police officer who swore as a hobby was a tad overdone and unbelievable really. I will try another in the series though.

Solid well told detective story

Sometimes I just want a straight-forward detective novel with an interesting plot and believable characters. This series delivers just that with the added bonus that it's set in Scotland in places I recognize. Also there's a bit of humour as an antidote to the harsh realities of crimes.
The narrator is very good.
