Publisher's Summary

What would you do if there weren't any consequences?

After 20 years on the force, Detective Chief Inspector Jack Logan thinks he has seen it all.

He is wrong.

When a nurse is murdered on her way home from nightshift, Jack and his team go on the hunt for her killer.

As more victims are uncovered, Jack finds himself tracking a murderer afflicted by a unique psychosis - one that leaves him free to maim and kill without a shred of remorse.

Facing a new type of killer in an unfamiliar city, DCI Jack Logan is about to be pushed to his limits, before being forced to realize just how little he truly knows.

The Killing Code is the third DCI Jack Logan crime thriller, and perfect for fans of Ian Rankin, Chris Brookmyre, and LJ Ross.

Another cracker

Great story, lots of twists and turns, interesting plot lines. I really like the characters, poor Logan needs a wee bit of light relief and a whole lot of good luck. The narrator is absolutely brilliant, he brings the characters to life. I'm going to download the next installment straight away.

fantastic read

Another great book, Logan is a very down to earth likeable character. Thoroughly enjoying this series so a couple of late nights were in order to finish it.
Narrator is so adept at defining the characters it's enjoyable to listen to ( can't beat a good scottish/Brit story teller) hence 99% of my library are UK authors.
Great storyline from start to finish, can't wait for the next book. ( please write quicker)

Fantastic characters and plot

DCI Logan is everything you want your police officers to be - tough, gritty, but caring. I adore him and hope for more books in the series. Three is not enough.

The story is great, the characters compelling. And I love that Scottish accent. Wonderful narration.

Fun book, great narrator

I never thought I would appreciate a really excellent narration--I believed a performance rather than a good but straight forward reading would interfere with the vision of the characters I could imagine and would just irritate me. Angus King has changed my mind about that-- his narration of this series is just outstanding. King's characterization of a knucklehead can make you burst out laughing. And I really savor the lovely Scottish accent. The book itself has what I like most in a police procedural: good, decent characters who are also often funny --people who I enjoy spending many hours with--and the good guys win.

Merely Competent

All three of Mr Kirk’s Logan novels feel like writing by numbers. Everything happens exactly when it’s supposed to in a detective novel. I saw the murderer coming a mile away, even though I’m usually quite easily misled. The writing is fussy and over-explanatory with many redundancies and frequent grammatical errors, which results in a story that manages to be grisly and twee at the same time. That said, writing by numbers also has its charms, and the characters are fairly endearing. This isn’t a failure by any means, but it’s not Peter May or Tana French or Jo Nesbø, whom I recommend instead. Only listen to this if, like me, you’ve run out of better things to listen to.

Absolutely Brilliant

Unfortunately managed to get through this in 1 day. Brilliantly written and narrated. Manages some quite graphic intense themes along with dead pan humour that often makes you laugh out loud. Each character is well fleshed out and the main character of DCI Jack Logan is by far my favourite grumpy detective. A must for any Stuart McBride or Scottish Crime fiction fan. Can not wait for the next installment
