Publisher's Summary
A remote Highland castle. A dark and stormy night. A murder most haunting.
It’s Halloween, and when an elderly billionaire is discovered dead in the locked study of his stately Highland home, DCI Jack Logan and his team must race the worsening weather to get to the scene of the crime.
There, among the victim’s extended family and staff, Jack finds no shortage of suspects. Everyone, it seems, had reason to want the old man dead, and they all have something to hide.
Cut off from backup by the worst storm in decades, and with the cast and crew of a TV ghost-hunting show seriously cramping his style, Jack’s only chance of solving his latest case is by going back to basics.
But the castle’s residents won’t give him a minute to think.
Not even the dead ones....
Tartan Noir meets Agatha Christie in A Dead Man Walking, the 18th book in the number one best-selling DCI Logan Scottish crime fiction series from author JD Kirk.

Jumped the shark
I normally love this series. However this is a poor read/listen. The story while amusing is beyond belief. Ill be cautious of listening to future logan books.

Not quite as absorbing but worth a listen
While not his normal effort his characters stayed true and made me laugh out loud as usual. I was a bit hesitant to buy this one after reading some of the reviews. As usual though it was worth the effort. It may not have had the OMG moments of will they all survive. I will definitely listen to next one.

A bit comical
Not as good as previous books. This was a bit comical in the story line. Great narration though. Angus brings life to the stories

Better and better
A fantastic new instalment of the series. Brilliant writing and amazing narration - it really does feel like the DCI Logan universe is real! So thankful that JD Kirk writes quickly because I'm already hanging out for the next book.

Brilliant as usual
Very funny, deeply intriguing and includes a deep dive into some of the hidden characteristics of a few of the most loved regulars in this series . It’s a bit like getting into your bed, pulling up your favourite fleecey tartan duvet and being grateful for how fabulously comforting it is.
Loved the story, Lol’d all the time and didn’t guess the baddie until the end.
Thanks JD

I think I may give up on the series
As much as I love the Jack Logan character, these books are declining in quality. The story in this one is let down by the absurd characters, Tyler’s ridiculous fearfulness, and the continuing presence of the most annoying constable in crime fiction, the ceaselessly talking DC Swanee, are distractions. Neither is a credible character, and spending 10 hours in their company is a feat of endurance. Please get rid of DC Swanee - she is awful.

I love this series but not this book
I get so excited each time a new part of this series is published but this was disappointing. I don’t like the use of the Agatha Christie format and it wasn’t at all scary.
Five stars for the narrator as always. It wasn’t his fault the story was flat.

Not as riveting as usual
Although I did like the emotional developments of characters and also the idea is set for next one to have more Hoon, my fave character. Always gets a laugh in an otherwise serious narrative. Go JDK!

A very enjoyable change of pace.
A bit more of a light hearted murder mystery perfect as a holiday season tale or just a more lighter DCI Logan story.
If you enjoy the old classic murderer amongst a small group of suspects trapped in a creepy old mansion during a storm with the added joy of Kirk’s ability to create an enjoyable cast of characters including some of our favourite detectives, this book won’t disappoint.
If you aren’t familiar with the DCI Logan universe this would not be a good book to start your Logan/Kirk journey but if you are I think you will find it an enjoyable listen.
And of course the narration could not be any better.

Brilliant characters.
This modern gothic inspired detective tale was horoughly entertaining. The author paints vivid scene descriptions and the amazing castle becomes real. Unbelievable character accents by the narrator.
