Publisher's Summary

Just when he thought he was out....

Burdened by guilt over the trauma recently inflicted on his friends and colleagues, former-Detective Chief Inspector Jack Logan has spent the past nine months living in self-imposed exile.

When a mother and her young daughter are the victims of a double murder staged to look like suicide, Logan is dragged back to help hunt down and catch a brutal, calculating killer.

But the world has moved on without him. To do what needs to be done, Logan must first find his place among old friends and new enemies before the killer strikes again, and a whole Highland community tears itself apart.

Maybe early retirement wasn't such a bad idea, after all....

The Big Man Upstairs is the seventh novel in the internationally best-selling DCI Jack Logan Scottish crime fiction series, and perfect for fans of Ian Rankin, Val McDermid, and Stuart MacBride.

I hope there’s more!

These books were so-o good! The series just got better and better. I loved the humour and the genuine comradeship of. the team. Each person a genuine character. The reading of the books by Angus King was excellent. The above summation tempered the gruesomeness of what they had to endure in the line of their job.

The DCI Logan series just get better with every book.

Whilst the subject is serious, I have to admit that I have not laughed so much in a long time. The characters are real and have a great sense of humour. Well done to the narrator, and of course the author, I have read the whole series.... I will wait for the next book.

the best yet

I love Jack Lang and his cronies. A wonderful work and personal family. I especially love the narration. I haven't laughed so much Ina book as he describes Jack's time out jogging and it's ramifications or his description of Jack and his new car. There's a lot more humour in this book , I hope it continues. I'd loved to have had a friend like Jack Logan.

Excellent story and narration

I’ve enjoyed this series and, importantly, been transported to a distant land which helps immensely during the pandemic.

I've been enjoying binge listening to this author and the excellent narrator. But, yes, but, this book didn't meet my high expectations. After the interesting forensics at the first incident scene... I found the plot dull, the hunt for a suspect dreary. I could be suffering from Too Much of a Good Thing itis, jaded after the other outstanding books...I look forward to the next installment. This title is OK, a nice study of the persons who work this unit.

A Very Entertaining Series.

A thoroughly enjoyable detective series - although the plots are based on serious crimes - I found myself laughing out loud at some of the interactions and antics of individual characters. I very much hope there will be many more books to come! Fantastic narration by Angus King - great character differentiation and not a bad attempt at a Welsh accent too!

Excellent, a five star listen.

I love this series and can’t wait for the missing ones to be produced on Audible. The story in this one referred to the previous missing one which was a bit confusing but I loved it nevertheless. The narration was superb and it brought out the humour which is a stand out feature of this series. I found myself shaking with laughter at times and at one point I could not contain a loud belly laugh so it’s probably not advisable to listen on public transport. Long may the series continue.
