Publisher's Summary

In her latest book, The Universe Has Your Back, New York Times best-selling author Gabrielle Bernstein teaches listeners how to transform their fear into faith in order to live a divinely guided life. Each story and lesson in the book guides listeners to release the blocks to what they most long for: happiness, security, and clear direction. The lessons help listeners relinquish the need to control so they can relax into a sense of certainty and freedom. Listeners will learn to stop chasing life and truly live. Making the shift from fear to faith will give listeners a sense of power in a world that all too often makes them feel utterly powerless. When the tragedies of the world seem overwhelming, this book will help guide them back to their true power.

Gabrielle says, "My commitment with this book is to wake up as many people as possible to their connection to faith and joy. In that connection, we can be guided to our true purpose: to be love and spread love. These words can no longer be cute buzz phrases that we merely post on social media. Rather, these words must be our mission. The happiness, safety, and security we long for lies in our commitment to love."

When listeners follow this path, they'll begin to feel a swell of energy move through them. They will find strength when they are down, synchronicity and support when they're lost, safety in the face of uncertainty, and joy when they are otherwise in pain. Follow the secrets revealed in this book to unleash the presence of your power and know always that the universe has your back.

Buy the hard copy not the audiobook

This book has some amazing step by step guides on how to surrender to the universe. I'd suggest buying the hard copy book so it's easier to refer back to certain steps. I'm finding it a bit hard to do this in the audiobook with the bookmark function on audible. Will have to get myself a hard copy.

Dont think, just get it!

Hands down one of the best books I've ever read! Gabrielle speaks to you on a soul level & opens your heart to a world not many others acknowledge. Her words are easy to follow, almost as if she was a gf sharing stories over a cup of coffee. You can FEEL her light & you get a real sense of who she is tho you never feel like she comes from a place of 'know it all' but only love. The meditations offered in the book are a great practical addition & her story telling skills are effortless. You will not be disappointed! I had high hopes & left in amazement ❤

Fluffy and Oversimplistic

I really wanted to like this book. I had hoped it would be the kick in the butt I needed for a better life. However the writting was saturated with Gabbys blatant privilege and failed attempts to be relatable. I found myself struggling to finish the reasonably short book. while there was definitely positives to the book ie an emphasis on 'choosing love', I found myself rolling my eyes during certain chapters. I also disagreed with her notion that bad things happen to people because their negative energy alone is blocking the universe's caring, loving energy. The book, while having potential, missed the mark. Overall Gabby came across as painfully entitled, not to mention the book's lack of flow and Substance. it was all a bit fluffy and wishy-washy and I would not waste my time nor money on this Author again.

Struggled to finish it. The book became very repetitive. Gabby was nice to listen to though.

Keep Forgetting You're Not All Alone?

I'd hit a brick wall, going about 180 mph. Three neighbors moved out, with all that noise, clamoring, moving vans, hustle. There were raccoons in the attic. The landlords decided that NOW would be a great time to fix up the places, complete with industrial tools, laughing, trucks, mayhem. It's still going on, and I work nights, so I'm completely sleep-deprived. And have a short fuse, am liable to burst into tears if you look at me cross-eyed. Oh, and then the raccoons decided that IN the walls was where they really wanted to be. Given that sleep is on the most basic of Maslow's hierarchy of needs, self-actualization and "The Universe" seemed like pie in the sky concepts.
But I was desperate so, despite its verrrry short content time, I gave "The Universe Has Your Back" a chance.
Holy cow, am I so glad I did!
Here you'll find the Holy Moment, living with certainty, and my favorite: a 24-hour challenge to yourself to find the love and live miracles.
Once I stopped whining about how very tired I was and devoted myself to looking for the good things, the things that were going right, once I decided to stop snapping at my husband and start letting him in, the miraculous happened:
I. Was. Happy.
Even the overnight security guard said I was *glowing*. Yes, that word, and trust me, I felt it.
Are you stuck? Do you judge other people, judge yourself, harshly? Is fear something that you just can't seem to let go of?
Give this book a try. You'll find more than mindfulness/meditation suggestions. You'll receive guidelines, exercises, mantras, that you can hold onto, no matter how desperate you feel. And Gabby is so incredibly human. At a spiritual retreat, when asked: What Do You Want? She says she wants a snack, a nap, no, coffee would be nice. Whom amongst us is not taken down by the everyday harshness of life, fatigue, hesitation?
Worth the time, worth the credit. And by the way? You're worth it too...!

This is a good reminder book

This book will teach you why you need to trust your intuition and guidance which comes from the higher guidance here called the Universe. The author talks about all reasons why to listen to your guides, how they will help you and why you need to listen to them. Remember you may want something so much you push against a wall until you realize you need to flow. Being in flow will move you along your path faster than you can believe!

Annoying to listen

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Someone who does not read a lot on the subject of spirituality or meditation.

What was most disappointing about Gabrielle Bernstein’s story?

A lot of coincidences and miraculous events in her life. I am not sure if she just saw thinks in new light or something great actually happened?

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator sounded just right for the plot. The story goes a little bit like "the girl looses a boyfriend and great job in one day, so she decides to travels around the world and she quickly finds a knight in foreign country. They get married even though parents disapprove."

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment

2 of these chapters are good

There are two good chapters in this book: the one about letting go of judgement and the one about the holy instant. The rest of the word feels like words strung together into meaningless sentences. She used words interchangeably. She also uses very generic words like spirit, truth, love, power without really defining them or contextualizing them.

It was entertaining and relaxing to read but the content is not great.

I just don’t get it.

Nothing in this approach to happiness and love speaks to me. It’s not bad....it just doesn’t ring true to me. I couldn’t listen for more than a chapter. I don’t think there’s a “darkness within me” that “resists and pushes back light”. Don’t get me wrong - I’m not trying to mock it...it just is not an angle that resonates with me. At all.

Rehash of other her other books

The content is good, but if you have read her past books and watched any of her lectures you will hear the same content. For example, the owl symbol story is used here yet again. It was disappointing.

Ugh. Painfully naive, shallow and self-impressed.

What disappointed you about The Universe Has Your Back?

The writer is thrilled about herself, absolutely enchanted by her spiritual awesomeness, and breathlessly tells us in extended detail just how amazing she is. "All you have to do is ... (decide! think! ask! believe!) and you'll be awesome too! God will rush to your side!"

What was most disappointing about Gabrielle Bernstein’s story?

The relentless self-congratulatory nature of her story is infuriating.

Any additional comments?

Bernstein needs to read "The Ego is the Enemy" by Ryan Holiday because hers is OUT OF CONTROL.

Nothing life changing

I feel depending on where you are on your journey and if you value science as well as spiritually this book will either be your epiphany or corny, airy, fluffy babble.
She believes in Angels and saints and lucky numbers appearing in your life that we should watch out for as Signs. A lot of it feels cringe to me.
I just feel like I heard it all before but better. She quotes the course of miracles so much and Wayne Dwyer it just feels so done.

There were one or two things that were helpful like Viewing things that happen in your life as loving actions the universe is doing for your greater good, to get you to where you need to be so changing your perspective through what can feel like a time of struggle

But that really is all I got. I zoned out once she told me the number 1 or 7 I can’t Rememeber are good signs I should look out for them and I should say a prayer to Saint John something or other..
I believe in quantum physics and energy follows thought but this is just fluffy to me. If your into that I think you will
Probably enjoy the book and love the author.

Waste of time.

I was recommended this book by a few friends and I'm seriously wondering whether or not to stay friends with them by the fact they enjoyed this book.
It's just a load of made up rubbish with no direction on how the universe actually does have your back.
All the author does is talk about her personal experiences. If I'd have wanted to read an autobiography Id have bought one.
I tried to persevere with it but the holy triangle did it for me and I ended up getting a refund from the audible great reads guarantee.
Thanks Audible for the refund.
For anyone else, don't bother. If you want something to read have a look at Jen Sincero instead. Much better!

Love this

I love this book because of the truth and genuine experience behind it. I just listened to it but look forward to putting it into practice. I chose 5 stars for all sections because the author is talking to me and she wants me to make the changes she has made. For me that makes it 5 star. I only just heard about her and I love her humility and humanness. Teachers no longer have to hide who they are and what they struggle with 🙌 it's inspiring xxx

A deeply comforting and inspiring book

Although very interested in spirituality, manifestation and positive thinking, I had never read any of Gaby's work before. This, my first experience of her work, has been a hugely motivating experience. Her honest and open hearted guidance is relevant and real, and her words and lessons are easy to follow. This is the perfect book to return anyone to their light and power. I look forward to reading more of her work.

Its good but not magical

I like the little prayers, the core message and her voice.
However I feel she talks about herself a lot, A LOT, angel wings on stage, a lot of name dropping and honestly her problems arent really relatable to anyone who has gone through a real struggle in life, such as abuse, poverty and even deep rooted real addiction.

By all means worthy of a download try it!

Out of 25 books, this is the worst

Nothing special. A series of generic advice that you can read on any blog. Big words, no substance. It seems like it's a book made for the fun of it or for profit. Over 25 books bought here on the same niche, this is the worst by far.

Nothing remotely new here

What did you like best about The Universe Has Your Back? What did you like least?

I'm an avid reader in this genre, and although I have it covered, I'm always looking for a spark of new inspiration, a new way to view things, something to stir me. Gabrielle Bernstein kept popping up in my face, although I was never really drawn to her. Finally decided to give it a go, and although I tried, I couldn't even get past the first few chapters. She's just reciting the same old thing, with nothing new to add, an her excessive use of platitudes and hackneyed new-age language just made me cringe over and over. And this is my thing!

What did I like best? I guess she has a story and seems humble enough.

Has The Universe Has Your Back put you off other books in this genre?

No, I love this genre. I just know to be careful because everyone wants to write one of these books and be a best seller. Yet, some people truly have a unique view, a remarkable story, something new to add. Bernstein most definitely does not. I would put her in the category of thinking she has every right to a best seller by being cute and milking the genre.

What three words best describe Gabrielle Bernstein’s performance?

Hackneyed. Un-inspired. Un-original.

Could you see The Universe Has Your Back being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?

gag me.

Any additional comments?

Don't bother, really. There are WAAAAAY better books in this genre. Sorry Gabby, hate to be negative, but I wasted time and money on you so I'd rather help others from doing the same.

Thank you for your light Gabby

Although I am not particularly spiritual, I do believe in an energy that is bigger than me that has a hand in the way things unfold. I have yet to name it but it exists alongside me. Your book has made me see that everything is about our connection to everything and each other. Thank you for the journey you have taken me on, you have given voice and structure to the things I already know deep within me. I am learning every day to release and surrender judgement, control and expectations. My role here is part of this too, the ripple effect that allows us all to lift each other up in love rather than tear each other down in fear. I am finding my path in this role and your book has allowed me to see I can allow it to happen. Thank you for your light Gabby. Sarah Alford x
