Story
Linda Marigliano has built a career out of performing for other people. In her day-job as an on-air presenter or in her family home, she contorted herself into 'the cool girl' or 'the good girl', and struggled to ever truly switch off. As she repeatedly over-committed and sought approval in all its guises, she started to ask herself: Why am I like this? Combing through her complex relationship with her mother, the sense of duty within her extended Italian and Chinese-Malaysian families, and the twisting turns of both her career path and her love life, she noticed a pattern emerging.

Story
Is it possible to write a sidesplitting novel about the breakup of the perfect marriage? If the writer is Nora Ephron, the answer is a resounding yes. For in this inspired confection of adultery, revenge, group therapy, and pot roast, the creator of Sleepless in Seattle reminds us that comedy depends on anguish as surely as a proper gravy depends on flour and butter.

Story
Years ago, Juliet left a little piece of her heart in Paris - and now, separated from her husband and with her children flying the nest, it's time to get it back! She puts on her best red lipstick, books a cosy attic apartment near Notre-Dame and takes the next train out of London. Arriving at the Gare du Nord, the memories come flooding back: bustling street cafés, cheap wine in candlelit bars and a handsome boy with glittering eyes. But Juliet has also been keeping a secret for over two decades - and she begins to realise it's impossible to move forwards without first looking back.

From the outside, it looks like paradise. But the women of the town know the truth: you can hide anything—from wrinkles to secrets from your past—if you have enough money. You could even hide a murder.

Story
Like most of us, Toni Lodge tells little white lies all the time. Whether it's "I'm five minutes away" or "It must have gone to my spam folder", most of these innocent fibs are harmless. But what if you realised that you weren't just lying about the little things, but the big "life" stuff too? When Toni sat down to write this memoir, she realized that the lies she was telling herself were hiding some pretty important home truths—about her work, her identity and her mental health. In her dogged pursuit of these truths, she brazenly explores everything.

Emotional Journey.
- By Josh on 10-03-2023
Publisher's Summary
This is not a story of revenge. Nor is it a story of regret.
It's a story of losing love but finding myself. This is my story of the healing power of food.
Food is a love language for me, and was also a way for me to prove my worth—to make up for a long held self-perception that I alone was not enough, that I needed to serve and cook to be worthy of my place and approval. I would often spend all day in the kitchen preparing decadent meals to show people that I care and prove myself worthy of their affections, sometimes people I barely knew or even liked.
In the past few months of Sydney's second lockdown, I have found myself making beautiful dishes that I'd never imagined cooking for one person… me. Tortellini in brodo, wonton noodle soup, potato gnocchi, 24-hr ragu.
At its core, this kind of cooking has all been part of me accepting a few too long ignored truths. That I can give myself exactly what I need. That I am worthy of my own love and care (and cooking). That I don't need to go to great lengths or cook extravagant meals for others to earn their love.
That I am, simply, enough.
This is my HEARTBAKE. A memoir of my journey of overcoming heartache and deep diving into self-discovery. An experience that is not unique, but universal. A story of losing love but finding yourself. Of discovering the healing power of food.
