• The Very First Step Toward Improving Your Health

    This episode is our first time releasing a 100% solo episode! Today, Steph talks to us about her #1 tip that EVERYONE can do to kickstart a healthier lifestyle: prioritizing your mental health. We thought this was a perfect topic to close out mental health awareness month :)

    In this episode, Stephanie goes deep into talking about her history with fitness, being strict, creating high stress situations, overcommitting, needing to "do it all", and not processing her emotions/feelings/etc. All of this led to looking good, but 1000% feeling like shit (mentally, hormonally, nutritionally, energetically...). What finally got her on a path to being her healthiest self (so far), was therapy!

    She gives examples of some of her biggest lessons learned from her therapist, why seeing her therapist was the most monumental positive shift in her health, and why she is an advocate for everyone to go to therapy :)

In this episode, Kate is talking with Jessica who is a sports dietitian working with athletes at Texas Christian University. We hear from a lot of people that they "know they should be drinking more water"...but how much should you actually be drinking? How do you know if you're hydrated or not? Are electrolytes actually important?

    She uses science-based strategies that have helped thousands of people who either currently have, or are at risk for, heart disease. This is exactly what she talks about with us today! She talks about her personalized strategies, the science behind them, and how these have helped her clients lower their blood pressure, lower their cholesterol levels, improve heart function, reverse fatty liver disease, reduce insulin resistance and blood sugar levels...(the list goes on and on!) Ultimately, she goes over how she helps clients reduce their risk of heart attacks and strokes, all while still enjoying their food :)

She’s a Reverend, author, journalist, a speaker, a grandmother and just an all around amazing human. She is also in her second round to be a TedX speaker so send her all the positive vibes, and her TedX talk is actually about the topic we’re speaking on today! 

    In this conversation, Edie and I are talking about consent. Now, most of us may think about the physical consent that the #metoo movement sparked conversations around. We do touch on sexual consent, but we also talk about the consent we use in our day to day lives. The consent we use with our friends, family, coworkers, children, and the consent we give ourselves. We talk about how giving and denying consent can be a form of self love by protecting yourself, your values, and your time among other things.
