Publisher's Summary

The Lonely Motel holds many dark secrets and room six just might hold the worst of them all.

Angel knows a lot about pain. His mother died in this room. He's researched its history. He's come back today to end it, no matter the cost, once and for all.

Prostitute Shyla believes the stories Angel tells her can't be true. Secrets so vile, you won't want to let them inside you.

But the Lonely Motel doesn't forget. It doesn't forgive. And it always claims its victim.

Incredibly captivating, horrifically complex.

I ADORED this book.

I loved the path this took, I loved the depth (even if it's a short book... wow, just, wow, i was so invested in the characters)

The play on my empathetic emotionals against my rationality for all choices completely made me go "yeah... fair enough", even when I was mortally horrified by the end of it.

Well done, I'm sad I'll never get to experience the thrill of reading this for the first time. (this book hinted at seeking those extreme thrills)

I couldn't recommend this book enough. I'll never forget it. what an incredibly harrowing experience that I absolutely loved.

Interesting

Crazy how all the tales mean something in the end… definitely an odd book but a wild listen!

holy shit

I’m a fan of extreme horror, but I’m especially a fan of extreme horror when it has a point other than ‘how gross can I senselessly get’. This book is gross, it’s interesting, it’s horrific in some parts. It comes together in the end though, and it’s satisfying in a way that I don’t often find in extreme horror titles. Super cool read!

Great stories

Very graphic which isn't usually my thing, but it was so well told and so wonderfully written by Mr. Ralston that I was hooked early on. There is a lot of praise for this book and I see why.

A nerdy English man playing an African American does not help this story. However, it is still read well. Sometimes you just have to put your own voices in your head over the top of the narration

A mini anthology

This is a relatively short listen as most extreme literature is. However there is so many stories packed into this book. Each one a unique experience yet you know they are linked. Whilst I anticipated ‘the ending’ as other listeners have said I was shocked as it’s not the ‘real’ ending. The last few lines certainly surprised me.
I found the two main characters rather endearing, another surprise for an extreme novel. Both suffering trauma, both looking for a way to move forward in spite of their damage.
Some may just consider this a shock value book I certainly didn’t. Whilst what happens to the characters is indeed shocking. It all is there for a reason. The narration was good without being exceptional.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Boring

Boring, boring, boring. I love splatterpunk as a whole and couldn't get through this one. So dull and gross just for the sake of it. The story is all over the place and doesn't seem to go anywhere. There was nothing clever or different about this one. The characters are completely one dimensional and the conversations between characters are just dumb.

guessable ending 30 minutes in

I don't even know to be honest, it's kind of predictable but all to vividly detailed.
