Publisher's Summary

An inn is a place to rest, a place to talk and share stories, a place to find adventure, or a starting ground for quests and legends.

It is in this world, at least. To Erin Solstice, an inn seems like a medieval relic from the past. But here she is, running from Goblins and trying to survive in a world full of monsters and magic. She’d be more excited about all of this if everything wasn’t trying to kill her. But an inn is what she’s found, and so that’s what she becomes; an innkeeper, who serves drinks to heroes and monsters.

Actually, mostly monsters. But it’s a living, right?

And the dumbest protagonist goes to…

This is a very well written Isekai. A pretty slow start builds well. My main issue is the MC consistently wastes time with moralizing the nature of reality.

Think worrying about “first world problems” when you live in a tiger cage. There’s a moment where the MC is about to be raped to death by a goblin chief and her response seems to be “let’s make it lunch”.

The innkeeping aspect of the story is very interesting however, and despite the MC (Erin) wanting to feed everything that wants to kill, rape or torture her (while she abuses every friendship she makes on her one sided quest to be the savior of the repressed), it improves with time.

I recommend this to people who enjoy well constructed story, but only if you’re willing to listen to hours of quavery voiced self recrimination that serves almost no purpose.

Andrea Parsenau is awesome and brings the characters to life. There is only so much she can do for Erin however. Expect breathy readings of inane character regression every time the MC is exposed to anything that involves emotional adversity.

Overall a solid Like. It wasn’t as great as other books in the genre, but that could definitely improve if Erin manages to adapt rather that enforce her ridiculous pacifism on the entire world.

If that is the plan, hopefully the next book will involve a perspective change along with the words “… and the eviscerated corpse of the former innkeeper Erin was placed in a bag and tossed out the door.”

AMAZING. Loved it!!

I enjoyed this book so much! Great storyline, wonderful endearing characters, good plot twists, and a good (I think) ending. The Voice performance is superb with all the characters having different voices, and different parts of the book having different narration styles.

What an amazing story!

I loved this story. It is so different from anything else I have read before. And the performance is one of the best I have listened to on Audible. I can't wait to buy the second part and then to see what else Pirate Aba comes up with in the future.

Great new world

Don't give up on this story, main character can be a bit whiny at the start but she has been thrust into a strange new world so it's understandable. I've up to book 5 now and each book has sucked me right in and kept me wanting more at the end. There is a surprising amount of depth to this series and it can go from light hearted to quite dark in a way that flows well.

Good listen. Never a dull moment

Whenever the goblins made their war cry, I could not help but laugh.
Get the book, it’s well worth it.

Great story

I'll admit it took me a while to start enjoying it, but this audiobook was great. Well-paced character development, some very emotional chapters, and a lengthy climax that kept me on edge for hours.
Fantastic narrator. Great range and lots of vocal extras that really added depth to the story.

slow start

it's a slow start but this one really picks up mid-way through, one of those books you sit in the car in front of your house for 20min because you're so into it.

Brutal start but decent if you make it past

I’ve never hated characters so much and continued listening but the other reviews made me want to see why this book was decent. It is decent if you can make it past the first few hours so good luck!

I don't get all the 1 star reviews.

this is a solid slice of life isekai. thoroughly enjoying it.
i don't understand the complaints about the voice actor. but if it's a concern try the demo first.

Due to the main character being female, and it being a fantasy slice of life I understand that not being for everyone. but the originality is refreshing.
