About this listen

The Wandering Inn, Book 1, has been rewritten by pirateaba and re-recorded by Andrea Parsneau. This revised edition includes new scenes and perspectives.

"No killing Goblins."

So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours.

It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

In a dangerous world where magic is real and people can level up and gain classes, Erin Solstice must battle somewhat evil Goblins, deadly Rock Crabs, and hungry [Necromancers]. She is no warrior, no mage. Erin Solstice runs an inn. She's an [Innkeeper].

Context. Im a 40+ grumpy old man who read a book about a girl.
Its a long book. At first I was pritty judgemental and thought it was a kids book. I put it down and came back to it. Glad i did. The book and the writing grew with the story.

It should be corny. But as it went on it became charming. It borrows from some obvious classics without becoming a gawdy boring power fantasy. Evey thim i thought it was about to become a power fantasy - it swerved left and left me bumping into my own biases and expectations.

The performance was well done and all there is left to say is that i will be getting the next book.

Slow burner

every night I listened for an hour. each hour had its own complication and story, although it wasn't simply divided into small narratives. the whole book flowed as 1 story with many 'side quests' to lvl up your understanding of the book.

can't wait for the volume 2 audiobook

each section its own story

The story unfolds on layers.
A roller coaster of a tale that deftly weaves character and world development.
The characters are diverse and flawed, which makes them relatable. Although sometimes annoying, that's part of what makes them so real.
The plot weaves and develops, sometimes keeping you on the edge of your seat. It's full of pleasant surprises and devastating turns.
Given the diverse and varied cast of characters, narration could have been problematic. However Andrea Parsneau rises to the challenge and exceeds expectations. One of the main characters, Erin, has a voice which some may find irritating but is well suited to her personality, given the genre.
I went into reading this book without expectations, shared it with family and friends, and none of us could put it down. Amazing!
Now I have to go and read Volume 2 in print.

LitRPG/Isekai roller coaster of entertainment

You'll laugh loudly at times and cry at others this was so much better than I imagined it could have been.
I've read a lot of books close to 50,000 chapters and this book I'd highly recommend to anyone. Now one of my favourites.

A masterpiece 9.5/10

And there is more than one dimension for each. Character growth is the name of the game. Story tropes are original in feel and executed with style. Should pass the Bechdel Test handily and chapter 24 & 25… I won’t mansplain those but I’ll play them for my wife for the lols.

On to the next adventure for me.

There is more than one Character

Really good narrator! The overall story and the world is fantastic, with some quite unexpected bits, particularly towards the end! The 2 main characters are occasionally a bit too whiny but if you just use the 30sec skip ahead a couple of times whenever they start wallowing it’s completely fine. Persevere with the beginning, they were obviously trying to emphasise the culture shock a well-fed, never been in danger, ‘civilised’ person from our world would feel.

Fantastic narrator

like many reviews have said the first three hours are a slog but it's worth to hear a refreshing new take on how a regular person would handle being transported to a new world
awesome world building and real characters

it took me so long to begin listening to "The Wandering inn" but when I finally did I was very happy I did, loved the story and how it progressed, I related with the characters, I was emotional at times (which is unusual for me) but this book is definitely awesome.

Great story, awesome book
