About this listen

King of Duels marks the passing of the torch from our beloved Andrea Parsneau to a new narrator. Erin Bennett, a Golden Voice narrator, will continue to bring the magic of The Wandering Inn to life.

The world is full of adventures, big and small.

From exploring the [Garden of Sanctuary] to the depths of the sea, there are countless fascinating discoveries to be made. Not just in the places people go, but in the things they create... or recreate from Earth. Chocolate, lifting weights, and alcohol all flow through The Wandering Inn with unexpected consequences at times.

However, there's also war, [Assassins], and scams that ruin or destroy lives. For every monster, there is an adventurer. The Stitch Witch may creep forward, and the King of Destruction continues his rampage across nations, but there will always be a champion who steps forward.

Featuring a foreword from Andrea Parsneau.

this series is always entertaining and i am waiting for the next book in the series.
The new Narator did a great job with all the different voices and characters and realy tried to give us the same experience as what we are used to . I miss the old Narator but was also I happy with the new choice .

Why you change a narrator at book 16? Dunno. But it’s jarring and ruins the story

Narrator takes you out of the story

some voices changed a bit with the switch in narrator but she did a very good job, I could tell who it was from just the narrators voice acting which is impressive considering the number of characters and taking over for somebody else

narrator did a good job

I've really enjoyed this series which is why I'm listening to this book. I have to admit I'm quite disappointed with the change in narrators this one's fine but not as good as the previous one. probably because of the narrator but partly because of what is being written I have found this story feels like it's aimed at younger and younger people. it also is feeling more and more like a platform to cover various issues whilel I think addressing some of these issues or bringing them up in a story adds depth and could be quite good it can also start to feel like you're preaching or that you're trying to instruct young kids. I'm also finding that the characters reaction feel like 13-year-olds reacting and not adults as meant to be. again I love the main storyline unfortunately there's long periods where that's not what is being covered. I hope this is considered in future books by this author.

still like the main storyline

Look, for a passing of the torch it NOT THAT BAD...BUT a few things I didn't like. mainly I think the narrator can't do accents as good as Andrea.
1. the measured cadence of the narrator sounds Very Robotic, ALSO the narrator pauses for about 1 second after a sentance and made me think more than a few times that the book paused randomly.
2. Relks voice is TERRIBLE my favourite character has dropped significantly because of it.
3. the Antinium voices arent as good. Klbkch and Birds voice i wish were different, I feel like their essence hasn't been captured as well as in previous books.
4. Saliss voice is probably the closest to what I'm used to.
5. ERIN need improvement. her and lionette cadence are so similar and Erin's voice is extremely grating, I feel like they pitch their voice randomly high at some points for her.
6. Mongolia reinheirts voice was the most cringe I had listed to. sounds like a haughty 80 year old woman with a plum in her throat.
7. Paults (the centaur) voice needs to be more accented i feel but still not bad.

overall story was good though. half considering just reading the books from here on. would home Andrea comes back but if this narrator can polish her voices a bit more it would be a good listen.
work on the OVERALL narration with less causes and slight roboticness please.

Narrator needs improvement. unbiased review.

come on podium audio, you can't replace the amazing Andrea with someone who can't even get the names of long time characters and places correct. She has a small fraction of the amount of voices Andrea had making it a hard story to follow because too many main characters sound the same.
super disappointing to see such a magnificent long running story let down by Podium Audio's poor choice in narrator.

Did she even listen to the other books?!

I love the story, the world but most of all the characters we've met throughout the last 15 books!
we've heard them live and die and felt it all.
and I can fully understand that would be alot for anyone to try and walk into and narrate! but with 600+ hours of history available to listen to you'd think that maybe some main characters names, citys, countries and speech patterns could have been looked into. so it wasn't so jarring to follow the story.

being introduced to a world and characters for the past 15 books with voices I have come to associate to the characters a sudden narrator change throws the whole story off for me. I hope the previous narrator is OK but I'll probably switch to reading from here on out so I can keep the character voices fresh in my head. shall switch to patreon donating to support the author because regardless it is a wonderfull series
