Leave You Breathless with Sophie Grace Holmes

  • Summary

  • Leave You Breathless is the new podcast from fitness coach, public speaker, influencer, ultra endurance athlete, nutrition coach and businesswoman, Sophie Grace Holmes. Sophie had a very different childhood to most - she was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when she was four months old and only given fifteen years to live. When she reached nineteen, she was told she only had two years left - but she sat in her hospital bed and created her bucket list of things she wanted to achieve in her life. Sophie has now achieved things that she was told would be impossible for someone with her condition, including climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and Mont Blanc, paddle boarding from the Bahamas to Florida, and completing a 50K Ultramarathon during lockdown. Sophie wants to share this podcast in the hope that it helps you to feel determined and positive no matter what happens to you in life. Sophie has proven that you can defy the odds and show what's possible, and that good things can absolutely come from bad situations. She believes that everyone is able achieve something extraordinary and should have courage to seek their adventure in life and live it on their own terms. • 12: Tyler Saunders: Redefining Impossible
    Mar 7 2022
It's the last episode of series one and we're finishing on such an amazing guest! Tyler Saunders is a father, online coach, personal trainer and wheelchair basketball athlete. He was born with a disability, and spent years questioning his self worth, having doubts and low confidence, but using the power of health and fitness he turned this around. Despite being born with only one leg, he has made it his mission to redefine the impossible, while overcoming self perceived barriers for himself and also helping others do the same to feel their best.
In our conversation we discuss his early years and how he changed his career to work in the fitness industry, and have a very raw vulnerable chat about his mindset and how he shifted it to being proud of the person he has become and how his daughters are his biggest driving force. We also discuss his goals, his routine, his affirmations and how meditation has changed his life. We touch on his views of failure and also how no matter what, having the courage to never give up has unlocked a life he never expected. Tyler also throws a few questions back at me (which I love) and lets us into a secret that no one knows about him.
Tyler is such an incredible human, and I left the conversation feeling seriously inspired and wanting to push my own limits, get out of my own way and sharpen up my own self affirmations.  This is one not to be missed!

  • 11: Charlotte Clarke: 100km Ultramarathon Runner
    Feb 28 2022
Charlotte Clarke is an adventurer and endurance athlete who is passionate about encouraging others no matter the obstacles. Growing up Charlotte was a professional dancer who had to undergo 2 heart surgeries which changed her perception of sport and made her realise performance based goals are much more healthy than aesthetic ones.
In our conversation we chat about Charlotte's surgeries, dig deep into her mindset and how her running journey went from starting out with a 5k to now racing 100k ultras for fun! We also chat about the importance of goals, the struggles of what training for these big races look like, routine, discipline and how comparing yourself to others takes the joy out of movement.
Charlotte is a seriously inspiring driven woman who has her eyes set on some huge goals. I honestly was left feeling so motivated and even contemplating putting my toe back into 100km race! I hope you are left feeling excited and inspired to reach for those big dreams and goals after listening to Charlotte and knowing that no matter the obstacle you can achieve anything you put your mind to.

  • 10: Joseph Bird: Challenging Stereotypes
    Feb 21 2022
Joseph Bird is a disability advocate, spreading positivity on disability while also challenges stereotypes. He was born 12 weeks premature and suffered a brain haemorrhage at four days old resulting in him having Cerebral Palsy. But Joseph's drive and determination is second to none and he has taught himself to walk, run and jump, he pushes himself in the gym and has completely transformed his body to tackle one of his biggest fears - he is also sponsored by My Protein.
In our chat we discuss topics ranging from his mindset, his routines and his acceptance of his disability, and we discuss a subject he’s never told anyone about: a strong resentment he felt in his teens and how he overcame it. We also touch on his support network, his biggest inspiration, his dating, goals and how he managed to keep moving forward during lockdown.
Joseph is an incredible human being, such a pleasure to talk to and he shared his story in such a vulnerable and honest way, leaving me feeling so inspired and motivated. I hope this episode helps to give you the confidence to really push for the goals that scare you and the belief that you really can succeed when the odds are against you.
