說起佛法,我猜很多人可能會認為它不過是迷信,或者僅僅是古人留下的智慧箴言。他們會說:佛法源於2500多年前,一個叫喬達摩·悉達多太子的教導,在那個生產力低下、科技落後的年代,怎可能參透宇宙人生的根本真理?
也有人將佛法視為一門學問或文化現象來研究。他們承認佛法博大精深、美妙非凡,卻認為它與宇宙人生的終極真理相去甚遠。
即便是當今的許多佛教徒,若深究其信仰,或許也會發現自己半信半疑。他們難以從理性的角度確信佛法所描繪的世界觀,更遑論將這種世界觀徹底實現。
而本書的論述,可能會顛覆許多人的固有認知。
你可能會驚訝地發現,佛法竟是如此理性,其邏輯體系完美自洽,經得起反復推敲;其修行體系更是系統完備,完全可以檢驗和實現。
只有在理論基礎無懈可擊的前提下,修行才能真正通向理論所指向的境界。否則,信仰佛法可能淪為盲目的迷信。
迷信,其實有兩種。一種是對不知道的事物,你直接就信。
另一種則是,你不知道的事物,直接就不信。將不了解的事物輕易否定並斥為迷信,這恰恰也是一種迷信。
我們完全可以以開放而審慎的態度去探索、分析未知。對於當代人而言,憑藉知識素養與理性思維,完全可以用求真、求實的精神去探究佛法的本質,在深入瞭解後再做出價值取捨。
這正是佛陀所宣導的態度:不要輕信我說的話,而要通過反復思考、辯論、驗證,發現它是真的,你才有足夠的理由躬身力行。
讓我們暫且擱置既有的偏見與認知,以開放的心態重新探索:佛法到底是不是真的,以及如何徹底實現它。
