Publisher's Summary
A naked woman in red high-heeled shoes is perched on the edge of Clifton Suspension Bridge with her back pressed to the safety fence, weeping into a mobile phone. Clinical psychologist Joseph O'Loughlin is only feet away, desperately trying to talk her down. She whispers, 'you don't understand,' and jumps.
Later, Joe has a visitor - the woman's teenage daughter, a runaway from boarding school. She refuses to believe that her mother would have jumped off the bridge - not only would she not commit suicide, she is terrified of heights.
Joe wants to believe her, but what would drive a woman to such a desperate act? Whose voice? What evil?

White knuckle reading
The tension is almost constant in this gripping thriller. This is not only in terms of the plot but also in the relationships between the characters - whether it be Joe and his wife or Joe and the killer he chases. When things get a little too close to home, we see Joe at his best and his worst as he is forced to set aside the mantle of advisor, finding himself a player in the play. A great book from a consistently great author.

Loved it from the start
Really enjoyed this book, my first with the lead Joe O’Loughlan. Was very engaging from the start and gripping until the end. Initially I didn’t really find the narrator easy to listen too but I really warmed to him.

Gripping !
Couldn’t stop reading - I was captured from the beginning- highly recommend- only fault was I found it almost impossible to tell the difference between two of the main characters, had to keep rewinding to work out who was speaking.

A very challenging but brilliantly written book
This book is brilliantly written but is extremely challenging in places. The book deals with concepts which will be disturbing to some readers. Proceed with caution.

A bit too dark
I always enjoy Robotham's work, and I did this time, but the story itself was really dark and at its most extreme moments I nearly bailed.

Another awesome read/listen!!
I couldn’t put it down. Likable, fallible truly human characters! Love the connection between Vincent and Jo. Superb narration.
