Story
A weekly newspaper dedicated to the weird and the wonderful (but mostly the weird), The Stranger Times is the go-to publication for the unexplained and inexplicable. At least that's their pitch. The reality is rather less auspicious. Their editor is a drunken, foul-tempered and foul-mouthed husk of a man who thinks little of the publication he edits. His staff are a ragtag group of misfits. And as for the assistant editor...well, that job is a revolving door - and it has just revolved to reveal Hannah Willis, who's got problems of her own.

Story
Rotherweird is a twisted, arcane murder-mystery with shades of Deborah Harkness, Hope Mirrlees and Ben Aaronovitch, Mervyn Peake and Edward Gorey at their disturbing best. The town of Rotherweird stands alone - there are no guidebooks, despite the fascinating and diverse architectural styles cramming the narrow streets, the avant-garde science and offbeat customs. Cast adrift from the rest of England by Elizabeth I, Rotherweird's independence is subject to one disturbing condition: nobody, but nobody, studies the town or its history.

All Bunny McGarry wants is a spot of breakfast and a decent cup of tea. So imagine how annoyed he gets when two masked men attempt to rob the New York diner he is in. Unfortunately, dealing with that problem just leads to a whole lot more. One of the diner’s other customers isn’t who she appears to be, and the odds aren’t great that she is going to live to see another breakfast.

Publisher's Summary
A deadly history.
A dangerous mystery.
And a dark plan coming to light.
In London, the past is never dead. It only...lies sleeping.
Martin Chorley - aka the Faceless Man - wanted for multiple counts of murder, fraud and crimes against humanity, has been unmasked and is on the run. Peter Grant, Detective Constable and apprentice wizard, now plays a key role in an unprecedented joint operation to bring Chorley to justice.
But even as the unwieldy might of the Metropolitan Police bears down on its foe, Peter uncovers clues that Chorley, far from being finished, is executing the final stages of a long term plan. A plan that has its roots in London's two thousand bloody years of history, and could literally bring the city to its knees.
To save his beloved city Peter's going to need help from his former best friend and colleague - Lesley May - who brutally betrayed him and everything he thought she believed in. And, far worse, he might even have to come to terms with the malevolent supernatural killer and agent of chaos known as Mr Punch...

Brilliant once again!
I love this series I’m typically not drawn to sci-fi/fantasy but this is such a well written series that never disappoints. Kobna Holdbrook-Smith is such a brilliant narrator who embues each voice with distinctly different traits! Can’t wait for the next one!

Superb, as always!
If you’ve been following this marvellous series, all you need to know is, the standards have not slipped in any way. If you haven’t read any of the series yet, go back and start from the beginning; you won’t regret it.

Can't get enough!
Kobna and Ben do it again! Thank you! I'm addicted to these characters and the story so please give Peter Grant more adventures. Kobna invents amazing voices and characters that Ben tries to trick him with but I'm always impressed with his accents and dialects from all over the world, bravo!

Favourite series, restricted to bedtime to make it last!
Whatever will I do when there’s no more to escape the daily grind, be soothed by the best male narrator (ever!) and thoroughly entertained amongst these special hero friends I have made?
