Publisher's Summary

He is known by many names - Clonelord, Manflayer, Primogenitor. He is the epitome of deceit and perversion, and feared by man and monster alike. Once the Chief Apothecary of the Emperor's Children, the madman known as Fabius Bile possesses a knowledge of genetic manipulation second to none.

Now a renegade among renegades, he is loathed by those he once called brother, and even the most degraded of Chaos Space Marines fear his name. Exiled for his dark experiments, Bile has retreated deep into the Eye of Terror, leaving a trail of twisted abominations in his wake. But when a former student brings word of the ultimate prize for the taking, Bile is unable to resist being drawn once more into the cauldron of war. For in seizing this prize, Fabius Bile might yet discover the one secret his has been unable to unlock...the secret which will prevent his inevitable doom.

Unbelievable novel

When I first delved into warhammer, I hated Fabius Bile. But a friend of mine talked me into reading this novel, and I must say, I have found a new respext and love for the primogenitor. Within the first few hours, this book quickly made its way to the top of my favorites list. It is beautifully written, and the performance is simply amazing. A must read for anyone who lokes Warhammer 40k and its lore!

Good

This is a intimate look at the Chaos side of culture and explores various kinds of evil. Stick through it. It starts to pick up near the end and has a satisfying ending.

A great audiobook

Well narrated and masterfully written. Sci-fi from the perspective of unrepentant villains. This is not a book about the struggles of great heroes fighting for justice. Fabius is a vile creature, struggling to survive. He turned his back on humanity, on HIS humanity, long ago. Now his past has come back to scorn him, and his future runs short.

disappointing ending... adding more words for min.

its my fault because I forgot these books can't change actual cannon, and without risk or loss the story becomes cotton candy.

Fabius, Pater Mutatis

Excellently narrated by the wonderful John Banks, a masterful telling of the twisted machinations of Chief Apothecary Fabius Bile, his desires, drives and needs.

like Fabius the book falls short of perfaction

it was an ok book, some of the bits were interesting with a look into how apothecaries operate and are perceived within the traitor legions. However, I did find it to be an exceptionally slow book that took quite a while to get going. it did have it's moments and there was some interesting characters but overall it felt very middle of the road
