About this listen

A Gotrek & Felix Audiobook

When Gotrek and Felix race to the aid of the besieged dwarf city of Karak Kadrin, they are drawn into a war that threatens the entire Old World, and pitted against a foe who could be the one to fulfil an ancient prophecy.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

It's a timeless tale from the Gotrek and Felix archives that sees the intrepid adventurers battle against a warhost of Chaos that seeks nothing less than opening a rift into the heart of Chaos itself.

THE STORY

Gotrek and Felix: unsung heroes of the Empire, or nothing more than common thieves and murderers? The truth perhaps lies somewhere in between, and depends entirely upon whom you ask.

Gotrek and Felix race to the dwarf hold at Karak Kadrin, finding it besieged by one of the grand armies of Chaos under the command of Warlord Garmr. When King Ungrim Ironfist speaks of the legendary 'Road of Skulls' and of the hated foe's attempts to open a portal into the Realm of Chaos, Gotrek senses that a great doom awaits him – though it may not be the one he would choose for himself. As the king's own son leads his army of Slayers to fulfil an ancient prophecy, it seems that Garmr's hour of victory may be at hand.

really great book, lots of name characters and gotrex history. This book has everything you could possibly want from a gotrex and Felix novel.

well done manling

Spoilers

Great read in the classic Gotrek and Felix style, although for long time readers of the series there are some frustrating continuity issues. Examples include Felix mentioning he'd never previously been to Karak Kadrin or flown in a gyrocopter even though he's done both in Dragonslayer and Manslayer respectively. Just a little frustrating to have moments like this throughout the story but for the author to reference other previous events such as their trip to Karak Eights Peaks. Also disappointing that the author didn't continue the tale where it was left by Nathan Long in Zombieslayer.

If you've never previously read a book in the series you won't have any issues and I highly recommend the book. As always the narration is excellent.

if you like gotrek and Felix, this is a fine addition. I'm always happy to listen to their adventures. Keeble is wonderful as usual. I look forward to the other out-of-sequence books coming up.

I liked it well enough.

Unfortunately this book does not continue after the events of zombieslayer. It seems to be from an earlier time in their adventures. The narrator is excellent as always, story is ok. The banter between Felix and gotrek is the usual, otherwise the story is nothing special.
A shame.

Besides the ever-excellent narrator, this book will do nothing for anyone following the series up to here. Snorri, Kat and Max are just... gone. No mention whatsoever. Snorri's quest? Forgotten. Kat? Nowhere. Max? Well, Felix and Gotrek met him in Dragonslayer so I guess that never happened seeing as this is Felix's first visit to Karak Kadrin. multiple books worth of story threads may as well never have happened. This is an alternate canon with nothing except a couple of characters and the broad strokes in common.

There is also a noticeable drop in writing quality. Bad grammar, clumsy phrasing and weird characterisation combine and you have a book that should not be read by anyone who has any experience with the series so far. The books have had their ups and downs since William King stopped writing them, but this is the only one that I could not get through. As a standalone book it's maybe a 3/10, as a continuation of the series it's a solid 1/10.

anyone looking for the next book in the series should look away
