Great once the story gets going

The story is great. My only gripe was that the first quarter/half of the book felt like a rehash of themes from the first book, especially with regards to the 3rd Legion and people wanting to rebuild it. The plot points that lead up to the main thrust of the book felt identical to many in the first book. Once this story gets its unique plot points its great.

Bile's Back: bitter, twisted & tragic as ever!

Fabius Bile is one of the most curious, original and compelling characters of the 40k universe. yes, he's a total monster. But he's also totally relatable. a villain you can't help but cheer on. Suberb writing and a complex, twisting storyline packed with imaginative characters, Clonelord is one of the best 40k boom I've heard in a while, and a perfect example of why Bile remains such an interesting antihero to explore.

Here We Go Killin Again

This is a story of a demented, immortal, elderly surgeon on a quest to show they galaxy that no one knows the HUSTLE. Knew it was a good story when I found myself about to surgically attach the neighbours cat to a bird. 10/10 would read again

Boring!

Blah blah blah man flayer blah blah blah vat born blah blah blah gene tithe blah blah..... missing ending Usually like reading stories about the traitor legions, it allows writers to get creative ( lords of silence). But this book was just alot of talking no real meat on the bone.

Better than "Primogenitor"

Loved it! Deep story. Fabius Bile is an excellent character. He is full of interesting contradictions. Fiery wrath, emotional detachment, cynical yet hopeful. A must read for all 40k fans.

wow

A fantastic, and as tragic a tale that has ever been told, that leaves you burning and aching for more. The previous book was good, but this one had the real momentum. Give it a go, it's well worth the listen.

In the box you go!

Pretty good story, lots of nice character development for Fabius's faction. I really liked the whitty banter between the characters and the "gift" Fabius recieved was a tantalizing clue of stories to come.

Far too much conversation

I was only able to get about halfway through this book before I had to give in and stop listening. very little seems to actually happen and the amount of conversation is excessive for this kind of book and especially in this universe. I really wanted to like this book, but ultimately couldn't.

Terrific continuation of the Bile series

Great sequel to Primogenitor arguably better than the original. A much more insightful look into the Emperor's Children

Another splendid piece of a puzzle

I must say I really enjoyed listening to this book, about as much as the first. The descriptions towards pirmarchs and the effect they have upon their children is quite effective. I only wish they could have had more liberty with the story, as the ending twist feels inevitable. I also wish there was a stronger though-line from story to story, as so far it feels like both adventures are isolated in their experience. That being said, this was one of the most pleasurable 40k stories I have read, and comes close.....to perfection.

Great performance good story

it was a good story the only reason it got less than 5 stars is because i wanted it to end differently.

One of the best in the Black Library archive

In the WH40k universe, there are truly very few characters that honestly toe the line well between objective good and evil. Fabius Bile breaks that mould. He's full of nuance, and has really given me a view into the Emperor's Children beyond the horrors I normally see them as. With the as always fantastic naration by John Banks, and the excellent writing of Josh Reynolds, it's a recipe for one of the best books in the 40k franchise. Now give me a moment while I invest in some Apothecary models for my new Apothecarium kill team...

This book is just amazing. The narrators depiction of the harlequins is so funny I laugh out loud everytime they appear.

Josh Reynolds at his best

An awesome story with a tragic end. Josh Reynolds is one of my favourite Black Library authors but unfortunately he seems to be very underrated. This book along with the first are well written and the character of Fabius has gone from being a mad scientist doing crazy experiments because it amused him to someone who is actually fighting to save humanity in his clinical way. Easily as good as the Black Legion series by Aaron Dembski Bowden but it doesn't get the recognition it deserves. John Banks was a very good narrator. Some voices were better than others but overall I thought he was brilliant.
