Not the best in the series
I found this story so hard to get into due to the sing songy narrator. She didn’t even seem able to consistently keep the same accents for characters, at one point the lead character took on a Welsh lilt then reverted back to Irish.
Story was okay but not as riveting as other instalments. Don’t want to ruin the ending other than to say “WTF?!”

Not as good as the first two in the series!
When you find a great narrator, such as Aoife McMahan, who narrated the first book in this series, and also the narrator for the second book (don't have her name handy), and then change, it is a disappoinment! First of all, Aoife McMahan, became the familiar voice of Katie Maguire for me, and Deirdre O'Connell wasn't nearly as good! She used the same tone of voice pretty much throughout the entire book, no.mstter what was going on. I made it through the whole book, however, but not happily!
There are more books in this series, but it says that Audible doesn't have the rights to those! Since this is a series, could you try to get the rights? Thanks Audible!

My last Masterton book review.
When a writer uses rape as titillating entertainment, a line is crossed where the merits of any story become snared or soiled in by the act described in such a detail, making the rest of the story banal and sordid. This is the problem with this particular book, it is not a matter of morality, just not entertaining or valid to expand on the plot or build a better character.
Not for me, degradation of people and animals is not entertaining or something I want to spend time reading.

Put me off this author.
Having read previous Katie McGuire stories I thought this would be as good. However, I found the sex scenes far too graphic and quite frankly an unnecessary part of the story. I find these do not ‘interpret’ well read aloud. Sadly I will not buy another book by this author as I feel it is just their own self indulgence they are feeding with such detail. I read very widely and this is the first time I have ever felt compelled to complain about a sexually explicit piece of writing. Disappointing.

Dancing with the devil....
As ever, a hugely engrossing story.... no spoilers but not the ending I hoped for....
I also think the case was 'closed' anticlimactically....
But there was enough in every chapter that left me wanting more.
Grahams knowledge- or appreciation, at least - of 'carnal pleasures' is probably more vividly portrayed in this story than any other.
My only annoyance was the narrator, sometimes making standard commentary when not in character very laboured.
I've waited a long time for DGD to appear in Audible and it was definitely worth the wait.

Why oh why
Against all of my better judgement I go back to the Katie Mcguire series and then finding myself writing practically the same review over and over...
KM is a brilliant female protagonist, sharp, fearless, clever.... So why detract from what makes her appealing with some god awful sex scenes? Katie's inner slut, Katie's lesbian threesome, Katie takes it up the bum - REALLY? This does not add to her character, it doesn't explain who she is why she's the human she is... I'm not aware of masterton going in to such depths with any of the male characters.... This is a middle aged man's fantasy, a strong, potentt woman he can bring down to a base level. Perhaps to make her more appealing and less of threat to his middle aged male readers.? Once again... A shame!
