With no witnesses, no obvious motives and no apparent connections between the killings, how can lone police officer Detective Dana Russo - flown in from hundreds of kilometres away - possibly solve such a baffling, brutal case? Met with silence and suspicion from locals who live by their own set of rules, Dana must take over a stalled investigation with only a week to make progress.

Publisher's Summary
A small bushfire, but nasty enough for ice cooks to abandon their lab. Fatal, too. But when the bodies in the burnt-out Mercedes prove to be a pair of Sydney hitmen, DI Hal Challis' inquiries into a local ice epidemic take a darker turn.

Challis and Destry back in action
Love the setting and the characters. Would love to see more of Challis and Destry whenever I can. I didn’t feel that great about the reader though, I’m afraid. I thought his rhythm was a bit off sometimes and it grated a bit for me when he mispronounced some words (that’s not how you say “Packenham” (it’s more like “Pac-Man” with an extra syllable in there.) But I did enjoy the gravelly sound of his voice.

Good story, Bad narration.
Good story but badly narrated. Place names were so badly pronounced I thought it must be staged in a foreign country. Shame as I enjoyed the twists and personalities in the story
