Giordano Bruno wurde 1548 zu Nola geboren. Er war ein Universalgelehrter, der an zahlreichen Universitäten Europas unterrichtet hat und immer wieder wurde er aufgrund seiner Ansichten von der katholischen Kirche verfolgt, verteufelt und schließlich am 17. Februar 1600 auf dem Campo dei Fiori in Rom verbrannt, nachdem er 7 Jahre von der Inquisition in deren Kerkern inhaftiert war. Nach seinem Verständnis ist sämtliche Materie und alles Leben inklusive der Seele ewiger Bestandteil einer ewigen Umwandlung.
