After saving the world many times, the Merry Band of Pirates have accepted the inevitable: Earth is doomed. All they can do is try to bring a few thousand people to safety, before vicious aliens arrive to destroy humanity's home world. No. There is one other thing they can do: hit the enemy so hard that the aliens will regret they ever heard of humans.

United Nations Special Operations Command sent an elite expeditionary force of soldiers and pilots out on a simple recon mission, and somehow along the way they sparked an alien civil war. Now the not-at-all-merry band of pirates is in desperate trouble, again. Their stolen alien starship is falling apart, thousands of light years from home. The ancient alien AI they nicknamed Skippy is apparently dead, and even if they can by some miracle revive him, he might never be the same.

The enemy unknowingly opened a portal to the Netherworld, and our world’s only wizard somehow managed to close it. Unfortunately, something got through. Something big. A dragon. Now Kaz Wolfe, with help from his dog Duke who is channeling the spirit of a wizard from ancient Babylon, and with no help from Azib the Cowardly Genie, must find the dragon before someone gets a cellphone video of the thing, and the world learns that magic is real. Or, you know, before the dragon eats someone.

After the Renegade mission by the crew of the starship Flying Dutchman, the UN Expeditionary Force thought Earth was safe for hundreds of years, at least. After there was trouble on the home front and the president had to authorize a nuclear strike on an American city, UNEF decided they did need the Merry Band of Pirates again. So, the Flying Dutchman is sent out on a simple recon mission. But for the pirates, nothing is ever simple, and their mission will become Armageddon.

The Aftermath of a stunning victory—especially an unexpected, complete, and final victory—should be high-fives all around, listening to politicians give boring congratulatory speeches, and a well-deserved rest for the Merry Band of Pirates. Yes, the galaxy is still a freakin' mess, but that is nothing new, and for a change, that can be someone else's problem. Until, you know, something really bad happens, and only the Pirates can deal with the problem... Or not.

Children are not supposed to rescue their parents, life is supposed to be the other way around. And rescues aren't supposed to be needed on the trip out to the new colony planet Valhalla. Slow, yes. Boring, yes. Dangerous? No, the trip is not supposed to be dangerous, never has been. When thieves attack the transport ship to steal an ancient alien artifact, and young Kaylee and her brother, Manny, are cut off from their parents, they have to stop the thieves from getting what they want.

Wesoła Banda Piratów zdobyła potężną broń Pradawnych, dzięki której ludzie mają szansę dołączyć do szczytowych ras Drogi Mlecznej i zmienić układ sił w trwającym od wieków galaktycznym konflikcie. Wydaje się, że Ziemianie nareszcie są bezpieczni i że dla nich ta wojna dobiegła końca. Joe Bishop i jego załoga powoli oswajają się z nową rzeczywistością. Jak jednak się okazuje, nawet czas pokoju nie jest pozbawiony wyzwań dla zaprawionych w boju żołnierzy.

Ziemi wciąż zagraża gazowy obłok, sprowadzony przez Maxolhxów i blokujący promienie słoneczne. Chcąc zmusić nieprzyjaciół, by pomogli rozwiązać ten problem, albo przynajmniej nie wchodzili ludziom w drogę, generał Joe Bishop i Skippy zademonstrowali, że są w stanie kontrolować sieci tuneli czasoprzestrzennych i pozbawić szczytowe rasy dostępu do innych rejonów Drogi Mlecznej. Problem w tym, że rzekoma nowa superbroń ludzkości to zwykły blef. Czy nieprzyjaciel przejrzy oszustwo, czy też podejmie desperackie kroki, przekonany, że nie ma nic do stracenia?

Zasłużony w boju lotniskowiec Sił Ekspedycyjnych ONZ "Latający Holender" wraca wreszcie na Ziemię, po szeregu wyjątkowo udanych misji, dzięki którym po raz kolejny udało się ocalić świat. Teraz okręt wymaga naprawy, a załoga marzy o chwili wytchnienia od tajnych operacji i zmagań z zaciekłym, potężnym nieprzyjacielem. Czy marzenia się spełniają? W przypadku Wesołej Bandy Piratów – niekoniecznie.

Żołnierze słabnących Sił Ekspedycyjnych ONZ pozostawieni sami sobie na kontrolowanej przez obcych planecie Paradise dostają szansę, by dowieść swej wartości podczas prostej misji szkoleniowej w kosmosie, na pokładzie okrętu pełnego młodych ruharskich kadetów. Elitarna załoga pirackiego okrętu znanego jako „Latający Holender” miała do wykonania prostą misję: ustalić, czy Thuranie zamierzają wysłać w kierunku Ziemi kolejny statek kosmiczny. Po drodze musiała jeszcze zająć się zabezpieczeniem przyszłości żołnierzy SEONZ na planecie Paradise. Gdy było po wszystkim, żołnierze w służbie Ziemi zapytali sprzymierzoną z nimi prastarą obcą sztuczną inteligencję, czy ich planeta jest już bezpieczna. W odpowiedzi usłyszeli: „No, nie do końca”. Teraz muszą stawić czoła nowemu wyzwaniu.

Walczyliśmy po złej stronie wojny, której nie mogliśmy wygrać. I to były te dobre wieści. Ruharowie uderzyli w Dzień Kolumba. Niewinnie dryfowaliśmy sobie na naszej błękitnej kropce, jak rdzenni mieszkańcy Ameryki w 1492 roku. Za horyzontem pojawiły się okręty technologicznie zaawansowanej, agresywnej kultury i BUM! Skończyły się stare, dobre czasy, kiedy tylko ludzie zabijali siebie nawzajem. Cóż, Dzień Kolumba. Pasuje.
