My love story all started with a letter. Only it wasn’t from the man I’d eventually fall in love with. It was from his daughter. A sweet little girl named Birdie Maxwell who’d written to the magazine that I worked for. You see, once a year my employer fulfilled a few wishes for readers. Only that column didn’t start up again for months. So I fulfilled some of her wishes myself. It was harmless…so I thought. Until one day I took things too far. While anonymously granting yet another of Birdie’s wishes, I got a look at her father.

Story
The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time. Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.

Publisher's Summary
He kept his salacious secret for years. But soon, everyone is going to be reading about it in their morning paper....
The Varlet (and the Voyeur)
William Moore is a long way from home. A farm boy from Oklahoma, he's now the most well-respected member of the Irish rugby team. But appearances are often deceptive, and Will isn't the clean-cut, all-American good guy everyone imagines him to be. He's got a secret, one that will tarnish his reputation forever.
The Voyeur (and the Varlet)
Josey Kavanagh is a self-proclaimed mess, but she's finally getting her shi...uh, act together. She's set her sights on becoming a veterinarian, but there's one teeny tiny road bump. Her living arrangements are coming to an abrupt end, leaving Josey homeless and in need of a job to pay her way through college.
The Plan
What he needs is a companion to keep him on the right path. What she needs is an apartment with free rent. Will is convinced Josey will make the perfect companion, since she's brutally honest and basically "just one of the guys". Josey is convinced she can ensure Will doesn't succumb to his voyeuristic proclivities by keeping a scrupulous eye on him.
Except, what happens when the varlet is tempted by the voyeur, and vice versa?! Perchance something very, very volatile. And vexing.
The Varlet and the Voyeur is a full-length romantic comedy novel, can be listened to as a stand-alone, and is the fourth (and last) book in the USA Today best-selling Rugby series.

Paul Corning! Where have you been hiding?
So-so story. Endearing at best.
Paul Corning has comedic timing, a voice and woah he certainly acted his part to perfection, not just read the part. Just listening to his chapters alone, I got to the end of this book.
Jennifer O'Brien, where were you, in la-la land? You just read (mis-read) this entire book. (Did the editors actually speed up her sections?) Sounded echo-ey, and her pronunciations were all out of whack. No pauses. Terrible reading. Almost like a teenage big sister reading to her sibling, but wanting to be out with her boyfriend instead and rushing it.
I don't think I've ever heard such a terrible narration from one half, and the best ever narration from the other.
Worth a listen, just to experience Paul Corning narrate.

Another great story by Penny Reid
I’m a huge fan of Penny Reid and love all her stories. The narrators were both terrible. He can’t do Irish accented voices and she can’t do American voices. All their characters sounded the same. This book needs to be self read to do it justice.

People are right about how bad the female narrator is. I just couldn't do it. While, the male narrator wasn't bad, he wasn't good either. No accents for all of the Irish characters.
Had to give up and read the book because I love the story but I can't listen to them. A huge disappointment compared to the previous 3 books.

Great book, AWFUL voice actress
This is the last of 4 books in this series. I listened to the first two and loved the amazing Irish and American voice actors. They were very professional and each performed several characters by shifting vocal tone and accents.
So, I downloaded this one... the female protagonist is almost in unlistenable! She might as well be reading the back of a cereal box. I quit listening she was so bad. In all fairness, the male lead is great and had a beautiful voice.
First and only time I've regretted an audible purchase.
Take my advice : just buy this on kindle and read. This book is funny and sexy, but the audio is DESTROYED by the worst voice performance ever. It is laughable.
(I'm not exaggerating, after I bought and read the book, I doubled back to one of the love scenes and played the audio. I actually laughed out loud her performance was so bad. She might as well have been reading a shopping list)

Love the book... Hate the female actor.
The book deserved 5 stars. it's was amazing. The Male actor was incredibly sexy. I could listen to him all day. But her? God, it was terrible. I read the reviews before and now I understand. Her voice is annoying, her acting sucked, and she read like she was trying to beat a clock. I get it... Buy the book, not the audible.
Still, the book was so funny and sexy. I would recommend it completely... but not the audible.

Love the story, HATE the female reader.
Buy the book, not the audiobook. Another great book from Cosway and Reid! Paul Corning was great, but seriously, what is up with the female reader!? She. Ruined. It. For. Me. Such a strange combination of cold robotic tone and total lack of awareness of punctuation while reading a story. I wish it was only Paul Corning reading. The only bad reader I’ve ever heard on a Penny Reid book. Disappointed.

Female narrator’s voice was very annoying
I read the reviews about the narrators and listened to the sample (which by the way doesn’t offer a glimpse of the female narrator) but I was very eager to find out about Will’s story that I decided to purchase the book.
The reviews are right, the voice is annoying as hell and the Irish accents from the previous books are, gone which is pretty disappointing since books 1-3 got is used to them.
Anyways, the book itself is good and super funny maybe they were trying to match her quirky personality with the voice but there has to had been a better choice.

I tried to like this, I tried in ebook format when it came out but couldn't get more than a few pages in. This year I tried the audio version. I dragged myself half way through and I'm just bored. I don't care about the characters. In fact I can't even remember their names; no I tell a lie, the guy is called Levi and I keep thinking that's the name of the dog. So confusing.

Ok but not as good as other books by the authors
The narrator, Jennifer O’Brien, really ruined this book for me. Her sentences ran together, and one moment she’d be narrating one scene, then it continued like it was the same sentence and it was a new scene. Her timing within dialogue was all off too which meant you couldn’t get absorbed in the story. She just rambled on as if she was in a hurry rather than acting the story. They should have used one of the female narrators Penny Reid uses for quirky characters instead. Paul Corning was a decent narrator so I balanced the performance rating at 3 stars because I didn’t want to bring his overall rating down.
The story was a bit frustrating because all the conflict was down to a lack of communication and it got a bit tiresome. I didn’t mind the male lead’s issues, but the female lead just seemed unnecessarily cruel at times (I know it came from insecurity, but still). I wish the book drama came from a different source. It’s not up to the same standard as other L.H. Cosway books, and definitely not as good as other Penny Reid books (which are brilliant).
I’ll still buy all the books by these authors ..this just happened to be a disappointing one.

Well worth a credit
loved this book! , I'm a very very big Penny Reid fan. The male narrator was fantastic even though he didn't do the irish accents for the appropriate characters that I could live with however the female narrator was terrible. I really hate to say it but her voice was so monotone I found It hard to listen to and every single sentence she spoke sounded like a question. I found that really hard to get past.
