Publisher's Summary

Jennifer Sylvester made her deal with the devil...and now, they’re engaged!

But all is not well in Green Valley. A chicken choker is on the loose, 61 dead birds most "fowl" need plucking, and no time remains for Jennifer and her devilish fiancé.

Desperate to find a spare moment together, Jenn and Cletus’s attempts to reconnect are thwarted by one seemingly coincidental disaster after another.

It’s not long before Cletus and Jenn see a pattern emerge, and the truth becomes clear. Sabotage!

Will an undercover mission unmask the culprit? Or, are these lovebirds totally plucked?

Engagement and Espionage is the first book in the Solving for Pie: Cletus and Jenn Mysteries series, a full-length cozy mystery, and is a spin-off of Penny Reid's Winston Brothers series. This novel is best listened to after Beard Science, Winston Brothers, book three.

Lack of Engagement and more Espionage

The story was nice, but it was unbelievable about their relationship. What two young people in their 20s didn’t try to find time together at all for months? I understand the dilemma she was having, but again the characters had opportunities in the story and always miss, which made it very frustrating for reading satisfaction such as myself. Even a make out session would have been nice. Overall it was a little dull for me and I didn’t feel any emotion during this read like I did with Reid’s other books. Im still a big fan.

Penny Reid - thank you for this story!

I loved this book. Frankly I needed this book in my life in the fall of 2020. This is a continuation of the love story between Cletus and Jen - two of my favorite characters from Winston Brothers series. Only Penny could weave such an entertaining story around chickens, milk cows and bees! No spoilers but I especially loved some of the ah ha moments for Cletus. I also really enjoyed the continued maturation of Jen! I’m excited to see if Cletus and Jen have future adventures. The narration was perfect. Chris Brinkley and Joy Nash turn in perfect performances! I just so love them both but especially enjoy their work on Penny Reid’s Winston brothers series. I completely recommend this book and all of Penny Reid’s books! I also highly recommend both narrators.

Love, Love, Love !!!!

I loved the Winston Brothers series so much that they've become my go to books when I want a smile or a reminder of what family, love, respect not only of one's self but of what others should be like. I cannot praise Penny Reid enough for her brilliance in character development and wonderful story lines. That being said Beard Science was a favorite so I was elated to find more of Cletus and Jenn's escapades. I look forward to the next installment. Joy Nash and Chris Brinkley both give stellar performances as Cletus Winston and Jennifer Sylvester.

Listen, but check your expectations

This book is charming because of the narrators. The plot leaves a lot to be desired ... The couple’s relationship is constrained by things they could easily change. This is massively annoying—not pleasantly suspenseful like the author probably intended.

Love spending time with Jennifer and Cletus again

Joy Nash and Chris Brinkley hit it out of the park again as Jennifer Sylvester and Cletus Winston. This is required listening for anyone who is a fan of Beard Science. Two thumbs up!

Penny’s World never disappoints!

I have throughly enjoyed every minute of this audiobook. I purposely didn’t buy the book once I knew Joy Nash & Chris Brinkley were narrating and as ever they brought the story to life - they are fantastic narrators. Penny you have such a quick mind and wicked sense of humour; I applaud you. Cletus or Billy...I still can’t decide!
