The Echoes of Fate, a Prophecy Uttered Unto the World a Thousand Years Ago, Cannot Be Denied....

Mankind has lorded over the land of Illian for a thousand years, building on the ruins left by the elves, as if it were their birthright. A thousand years is a long time for an immortal race to see the truth of things, a truth that has remained unsaid for a millennium - elves are superior. They are faster, stronger, and connected to the magical realm in a way that man could never grasp. Illian should belong to them.

Unaware of the shadow that looms in the east, the six kingdoms of man are fractured, unallied, and clawing at each other's gates for more power.

This isn't just war set to ravage the land, but a slaughter - the world of man cannot hope to survive.

Thrown into the heart of this war is a man known by many names; an Outlander of the wilds, an assassin, a ranger. Asher was born a thousand years ago, to a life he doesn't remember. Forty years of brutal training and killing for money has beaten the earliest years of his life away, leaving his ties to the oldest of evils a mystery to all....

Cracking story

Love this author and love the narrator. Perfect match for this and the characters were brilliant!

Flat monotone narration

The story is good but the narration really makes it fall short. It's so frustrating to find do many good books let down by unimaginative and flat reading. It feels like someone is reading the book at you

listen at .90 speed.

This is a great story but the narration is far too fast. Slow the speed down in settings and it is an enjoyable audio book

great story, average narrative

Loved the story, Author wrote an amazing story, however the narration was read way to fast and needed pauses in sections there was none.

rise of the ranger

A mixture of Wheel of Time. Tolkien's epic sagas and Harry Potter. I loved it and have already bought books 2 & 3

Listen to this

There’s a bad review about the narrator that initially put me off this book until I sampled it and realised that they were the miserable type of person that would complain if they won the lotto....Anywho, I’m so glad I got this book as the trilogy is one of the best I’ve ever listened too/read. All the action you could want but with a Brandon Sanderson style story. There’s always something going on, but you can easily follow as the words paint such a vivid picture in your mind. The characters are flawlessly written and you feel really connected to them as they go through their individual trials and tribulations. I can’t say enough good things about this book and the two that follow it. Great pacing, action aplenty and a gripping tale. I highly recommend this series.

A great story & performance

The story sets a fast pace and well thought out plot elements. I found it easier to listen at .9 speed so I didn’t miss anything. I enjoyed it very much and look forward to listening to part 2
