Publisher's Summary

The brand new trilogy in the Echoes saga begins here!

Thirty years after the Echoes of Fate changed the course of history, an ancient evil stirs once more.

Millennia in the dark has left these lost and forgotten monsters hungry for war, and the people of Illian can do nothing but rely on their peacekeepers, the Dragorn. But are the dragon riders ready for what has been buried under their feet?

Gideon Thorn, Master of the Dragorn, can feel the Third Age coming to an ominous end. Together with Inara Galfrey and her dragon, they must investigate the return of these forgotten monsters.

Alijah Galfrey, Inara’s twin brother, has only one talent - getting into trouble. When he isn’t drinking, the half-elf is gambling his life away in the pursuit of relics no one cares about. Now, he finds himself at the sharp end of history. Can he take charge of his own destiny, or will he always be controlled by others?

Deep in the mines of Vengora, something ancient has been found, and the dwarves of Dhenaheim would go to war with the North over it. After 60 years in the world of men, Doran Heavybelly must finally return to his homeland if any peace is to be found.

When gods go to war, mortals pay the price.

Great adventure and I can't wait for the next!

What a great story. The characters were interesting and even the dragons have their own personality. I really appreciate it that the author wrote about the female characters in a strong way and not resorted to needless abuse as some other books do. This story has it all: Dwarves, elves, humans, orcs, dragons, mages, and more! Highly recommend!

Philip C Quaintrell did it again!

Like all his books, this is a great listen! Story is well written with with familiar characters, and some new ones . This is an excellent start to a new storyline. Steven Brand’s narrating is perfect! This is the only way to follow the Echoes of Fate series!

A master of story telling

This book was a great adventure. The characters seem so real and the story moves wonderfully fast. Yet not at the expense of building up the characters to the point where they seem like real people.

A wonderful job and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.!

Totally gulf

The performance of the reader is really good! Well done!! You read with even voice and great characterization!!

Book content
Too many characters too much crap going on, and yet sooo predictable.

*spoiler alert *

“The crow”- dark and mysterious has all the power to create a “new age”. He so bad ass he even throws down the 500 y.o. Wizard, a dragon and and entire race of Orcs!!
But oh my gosh he keeps the wizard alive because his brilliant twisted plan needs him in the second and third installment.
If you’re so bad ass that you can take over an entire race of orcs and you can thrawrt the authors version of gandolf then why don’t you just flipping take over all the unsuspecting kings and their kingdoms by looking in their mirror and telling them what to do! Oh! I know why so you can write books 2, 3, and 4 and keep getting PAID.
Not a good book and just another crap series that will probably span at least three books, but could tell the entire story in two or three paragraphs. Stop writing for money, write because you’re good! Author is capable of so much more than this drivel linked to some other trilogy.

Very good

The only reason I tried the original Echoes of Fate series was because I really like Steven Brand as a narrator. I enjoyed it, but was ambivalent about trying the next series. I am so happy I did. This is an excellent book and the narration was superb. The story was a little dark, but with enough surprises and twists to keep you completely engaged. I love that the main antagonist in the book is a complex character that doesn’t fall into the pure evil stereotype that most fantasy novel villains fall into. Too bad the second audio book isn’t available yet. I went ahead and purchased the paperback. Not sure if I remember what it’s like to actually read a book.
