Publisher's Summary

This is the end. How could it not be? Fate waits for none.

It has unravelled across the ages, its web woven throughout millennia of chaos and blood. Now, all that was seen shall come to pass, and there is nothing the heroes of Verda can do to stop it. After years of planning and preparation, Alijah Galfrey is finally ready to change the world. He will break the scales of power across the realm, securing his victory and eternal reign. There is no line he will not cross; no sacrifice he will not make to bring peace to the land.

Spread thin, The Rebellion must work fast to muster their forces and meet the enemy head on. Vighon Draqaro and his allies give their lives to stand against the growing darkness, but only the children of fire and flame can determine the fate for all.

A Clash of Fates is the final chapter in the unmissable epic-fantasy series The Echoes Saga.

An epic end to a fantastic series

This has to be one of my favourite series. I sincerely hope that more books of this series come out. Although it is dark in some areas, it's not as dark as the books I normally enjoy as much as this (such as those by George R.R. Martin or Joe Abercrombie) so it was a bit odd for me to like it as much as I did. Having said that, it is still dark, without a doubt. Honestly it's a bit like the Witcher series meets a grown-up, modern-day Lord of the Rings & an also grown-up Drizzt Do'Urden. I put the Witcher series first on that list because I see the most parallels but overall they are very different in plot (and writing style), but while it can be difficult to accurately compare different series and worlds, I think that readers of the Witcher series will feel some of what they crave after finishing that series in this one (and readers that have finished this amazing series will also find some of what they crave in that fantastic series!).

I absolutely loved it overall and it will easily be amongst the peak of my book recommendations to friends.

What a journey.

This has been a truly enjoyable experience going on this journey over the nine books of this series. A great story with some epic characters that has kept me hooked the whole time. As much as I have enjoyed how the series has wrapped up I am sad that it is over. I only hope that the another series in this world will come along, I'd love some more of Asher's adventures. Thank you Phillip C. Quaintrell for 9 incredible book's I will undoubtedly return to.

What an ending

It's been a while since I've finished a book series as satisfying to listen to and engage with as this one, definitely gonna go check out the prequel to experience more of Verda!

epic story comes to an end

Love the echos saga and this book ties the ending up very nicely. Can't wait to see what is next on the authors project list.

I read a lot of this genre and loved every minute of this series. Practically inhaled it! Fingers crossed I’ll get to revisit this world very soon.

Should have stopped at book 6

Sorry but it was painful for me to finish these last three books. I wish I stopped listening at book 6.

Phoned in end of a 9 book slog

Performance was alright but mostly phoned in, no great variation between characters so it would’ve been hard to tell who was talking most of the time, except Quaintrell writes like a teenager trying to hit word threshold on an essay. The amount of times he’s written pointless dialogue and things like “the ranger, the guardian, the half elf, the king, the Northman, the dwarf, the war mason, the werewolf, the donkey’s balls” is exhausting. Plenty of scenes that go nowhere, and the book could’ve been easily 1/3 as long and still finished the series with the same effect.

The series took a turn for the worse after introducing the Galfrey kids. Inara is uninteresting, Alijah is unsympathetic when he is supposed to be, and the plot always has elements of “I forgot that was a thing” almost at GoT writer season 8 level.

Much better series out there, wish I stopped at book 3.
