Terrible female narration
I don't know why Rosalyn Landor was not used for Book 5, but this new narrator makes a heavy breathing noise on the end of every sentence. It made this book unbearable to listen to. What a shame! 😡 I was loving the series, up to this book. The male narrator carried the book, and I enjoyed listening to his narration (without wincing as I did the rest of the book).

Gripping
Having listened to books 1-4 twice, I was anticipating book 5 to be equally as compelling. The story definitely is. Julia's writing is raw and unnerving, captivating your attention. My only disappointment was the absence of Rosalind's narration. It seems very odd to change the female narration at the climax, though they must have had good reason. Unfortunately I struggled with Lucy's interpretation and at times could not differentiate her characters. Will is however as incredible as always and should be commended for his diverse characterisation that brings this series to life.

I am a big fan of Julia’s books and have thoroughly enjoyed them being released on audiobooks . It took me a little while to get used of the new female narrator Lucy, but I was soon wrapped up in the continuation of this wonderful story to notice the change. Through Beth and Alex’s story we learn of the dreadful aftermath of the battle of Culloden, Cumberland’s brutal cleansing of the highlands and the resilience and spirit of the highlanders not to go down without a fight. The combination of Julia’s wonderful characters, story telling ability. wrapped around well researched historical events and the people involved in the events, is what makes make her books so good. Having them come to life on audiobook is a real bonus. Love Will’s narration. Looking forward to Tides of Fortune.

Fabulous
The continuing journey of Beth and Anthony has had me on tenterhooks. I have been moved from laughter to tears through the series and have also loved the historical accuracy. Having visited the highlands and many of the battle sites of the Jacobites I am in awe of all the clans and Scots for what they have endured. To Julia Brannan; thank you for your research, dedication to history and fabulous storytelling. To the narrators; thank you for bringing all the characters and history to life.

Narration can make or break even the best of stories
My love of the story and Will Watt’s Narration is the only thing that kept me going. A new female narrator Lucy Rayner was brought in. Painful doesn’t begin to describe how every last word in a sentence is drawn out.
Really love the historic notes at the end of each book.

Listen to all four books on audible bought five
I listen to the first four books on audible. I fell in love with them and could not wait for book 5 and six to come so read them as soon as book 5 came out I purchased it on audible .Julia Brannan is a great author in my opinion. The narrator in books 1-4 was Rosalyn Landon and Will M Watt A great team they made as good as it gets! Will M Watt did a great job in Pursuit of Princes but Lucy Rayner made me scream in parts of the book because she has such a singsong voice as a narrator especially when she read Sarah‘s parts Sarah should have a cockney accent! She managed to pull off the Scottish accent OK.

Didn't like the change in female actress at all
So far I have loved these books but they decided to change the female actress, and I am not happy. The way she draws words out is so very annoying, and even made me cringe. Thank God the male actor stayed the same. It helped me get through as he reads the part perfectly.

Had to read the book!
I can’t tell you how disappointed I am that Rosalyn Landor isn’t narrating with Will M Watts again in this book. I devoured the first 4 couldn’t get enough...but I can only manage a little bit at a time with this one. Will great as always but Lucy Raynor just makes me think of the narrator of Desperate Housewives and I can’t stand it. Her voices pull me out of story and I would not buy another with her as narrator. I couldn’t wait for the audio to come out but I would have been happy to wait longer if it meant we’d get Rosalyn Landor. Why did they let Lucy Raynor narrate the way she did?!? It’s just not the same quality. Their narration doesn’t flow between the characters.

Five Stars, but it was a near miss!
I am delighted by Julia Brannan's historical pieces that she tags on at the end of each book in this series. Until then, I believed the story was taking a departure from accurate events and becoming just a wonderful tale created in order to continue our protagonists' story. But nothing of the sort is going on! What an eyeopener to realize that so many of the new characters introduced into the story were actual people and how Beth's ordeal was able to fit seamlessly into their slot in history. I've gained even more respect for Julia's meticulous research.
As for the things Alex and his family continued to experience, would have been so typical of what other survivors of Culloden went through. The aftermath was brutal under the direction of blood-thirsty, greedy commanders.
I had a hard time giving this book five stars, however, because Rosalyn Landor has left the studio. Her replacement was a bitter disappointment. There is a distinct lack of chemistry between the two narrators and it caused the presentation to suffer. I gave the five stars because Will Watt carried it with his amazing voice and that made up for the poor performance by the new female narration. Julia's remarkable story with the support of Watt made it a not-to-miss event!

Wonderful series
I can’t say enough about this series. I am getting ready to start the last book and so looking forward to it even though it is supposedly the last one.
The author really develops all the characters, leading and supporting. She gives each a believable back story. The historical setting appears to be accurate, but I am not a historian.
All in all, worth all the credits.

Another great installment
Another great book in the series. Having come to love many of the characters in these books, the last two brought me almost to tears on more than one occasion. Will M. Matt was born for this series, and especially the portrayal of Alex/Anthony. His performance has been outstanding on every level. Lucy Raynor has a nice voice but there isn’t much if any variation in characters.

Absolutely exquisite series!!
I was very excited when this next book in the series was released in audio! Jacobite Chroniclesis a shining example of what Historical Romance can be! Julia Brannan has done her research and beautifully weaves her wonderful story with her vibrant, complex characters into historically accurate occurrences and people from that time in history. Pursuit of Princes begins after the Battle on Culloden Moor, in a time of absolutely devastating loss and absolutely abhorrent treatment of the Scottish people following the rising. The characters we have grown to love throughout this series are struggling mightily to recover from seemingly insurmountable odds. I experienced the full gambit of emotional responses throughout this book and cannot wait to see what happens next in this exciting adventure!
Let’s talk about the performances! Wow! Duet narration (Will voicing all of the male parts and Lucy voicing all of the female parts) is my jam, and Will Watt once again delivered phenomenal flawless performances of multiple accents ranging from Scottish with exquisite Gaelic to multiple British accents representing the varied ages, social classes, and regions. Just WOW! Lucy Rayner is a new narrator to me and she did an excellent job! I look forward to listening to more of her work.
I am anxiously awaiting the next book so I can find out what happens to all of these wonderful characters! I very highly and enthusiastically recommend this entire series!

Harrowing
The aftermath of Culloden is graphically described. The level of cruelty is hard to stomach. Excellent narration by Will M. Watt - Lucy Rayner's purring delivery is a bit jarring.

A Great Story
Wonderful story, terrible female narrator. it was like someone reciting a shopping list. I could have narrated it better myself.Really spoilt it for me at times, especially when first four books had an excellent female narrator. Thank goodness they didn't change the male narrator. He is very good.

Enjoyed
Enjoyed the story but was sad that Julia Landor wasn’t narrating like in the last 4 books 😞

Excellent story - the female narrator, not so much
Like the previous books in this series, this tells a good story with many interesting twists. It is clear that the story is coming to its end as some loose ties are tied up, and some matters clarified in a good way.
The male narrator continues to be excellent but it is really too bad that they changed the female narrator as Lucy Rayner reads the material in a constantly purring voice - I didn’t even know you could purr out the words “tea” and “torture” but, evidently, it is quite possible. It took quite a while to get over and, unfortunately, took some of my attention away from the story.
