And we are inundated with songs, movies, and advice that contradicts God's design for love and intimacy. Matt Chandler helps navigate these issues for both singles and marrieds by revealing the process Solomon himself followed: attraction, courtship, marriage...even arguing. The Mingling of Souls will forever change how you view and approach love.

Too often, Christians act as though these things are at odds with one another. But what if God intends for us to possess a Christianity that is radically committed to biblical truth, in a way that did not diminish the life of the heart, but actually intensified it?

Publisher's Summary
When you say “I do", you begin the journey of a lifetime, and you have dreams of that journey being perfect. But it won’t take long for expectations of the perfect marriage to fade away in the struggles of everyday life. A long-term, vibrant marriage needs to be grounded in something sturdier than romance - it needs the life-changing power of the gospel.
In this rebranded edition of What Did You Expect?, popular author and pastor Paul David Tripp encourages couples to make six biblical commitments to the Lord and to one another. These commitments, which include a lifestyle of confession and forgiveness, building trust, and appreciating differences, will equip couples to cultivate thriving, joy-filled marriages built on Christ.

The Marriage Book Every Marriage Needs.
If you think I don’t need to read a book on marriage, my marriage is pretty good…let me tell you…You don’t know just how badly you need this book!
This book has held a mirror up to my marriage and shown me an image I didn’t know I needed to see. With crystal clear clarity Paul David Tripp has shown how we are all in desperate need of the principles found in this book, principles that originated in the best book, God’s word. I and my marriage couldn’t have asked for anything else right now then the words found in these pages (and sound waves).
Whether you have been married for a lifetime, are a few years in, are engaged, dating or single this book is well worth your time. It is an investment you will not regret. Yes this book about marriage is for the single person too. If you are single and thinking of dating then this will by the grace of God set you on the right path before you’ve even stepped foot on it. If you are dating or engaged the same applies but sets you up for a marriage you’ll be prepared for. If you’re a few years in then you need to establish the foundations found here for a future founded in true love. If you’ve been married for a lifetime that is no guarantee that there aren’t things you need to work on.
I was hesitant at first to purchase this book as I already owned and have read ‘what did you expect’. But! Let me tell you, if you’re having similar thoughts…buy this book! It is the perfect successor to an already great book on marriage.
You should never think your marriage is good enough. That you no longer need to work on your marriage. That you have it figured out. You don’t and you never will. Not this side of eternity. So in the mean time take the time to perform regular maintenance on your marriage. And know that once you’ve finished this book, the work is only just beginning.

Repetitive, long but good truths
Even though it was a really long listen and quite repetitive, I enjoyed some really good truth to it. However there was also a lot of calvinism teachings to it which I don't always agree with but that's getting theologically technical...still worthwhile listen for some biblical truths!
