Publisher's Summary

Earth is initiated, and Alistair finds himself in a dangerous new world....

On a day like any other, an alien descends to Earth, unleashing untold death and destruction.

Alistair watches the live news footage of the carnage, his eyes glued to the image of impossible power made manifest.

The alien’s arrival kicks events into motion that no one could have predicted. Earth is prematurely initiated into a universe-spanning empire of cut-throat cultivators, beasts, and entities of ungodly power—all guided by a mysterious AI System.

The System’s first quest? Kill someone.

Amidst the chaos, Alistair must make a choice. Will he fight for the sake of power, or stand against the forces of evil? His decision alters the threads of destiny.

Separated from his family and friends, Alistair must find his way through a new world where power is obtained through conflict—and cultivation leads to the insurmountable Peak.

Whatever it takes, he will secure his own path to eternity.

Not bad overall

Writing was a little simplistic and clumsy at times and the mc was a little bit too expressive about how self righteous he was but not a bad listen just lacking compelling characters or an overall plot point.

MC who isn’t a idiot!

Slow start but picks up and goes faster the more you read.
I really enjoyed my listen!
The MC is a good guy trying to do his best in a world gone to chaos
The magic system is ok but enjoyable enough for the read. Simple and easy to grasp for the listener

Random shouting illogical characters

I’ve got 1.5 hrs left and I’m not finishing it. The fight scenes don’t follow any logic and the responses of the 2D characters is baffling.

Finally a hero who is not an overpowered loner

I really enjoyed this book for several reasons. The first being that the main character is a normal guy who needs to work out how his modern day sensibilities will allow him to survive the new world.
While the story may feel a little slow to start, Daniel Wisniewski's masterful narration would make even a shopping list sound good. The story does pick up, and unlike so many "system" novels, you can actually find out the how and why of the system without having to rely on divine intervention.

I hope that there will be more books to continue this story - I will buy them.

Just great

Strong narration and a compelling tale of growth and forging a path of good through a universe shrouded in darkness.

Fun, lightweight and what you'd expect

Pretty much what you'd expect from a lite RPG title. While there is death and mayhem it's not something you can take too seriously it's more the background fluff you get in most video games or RPGs. My biggest criticism is the main villain is rather weak as he's more of a arsehole just being evil cause he can which makes him a very tedious character. Overall good fun though the narrator is excellent.
