About this listen
Orphaned by Monsters. Matt must power up to save others from the same fate.
Matt plans to delve the rifts responsible for the monsters that destroyed his city and murdered his parents. But his dreams are crushed when his Tier 1 Talent is rated as detrimental and no guild or group will take him.
Working at a nearby inn, he meets a mysterious and powerful couple. They give him a chance to join the Path of Ascension, an empire-wide race to ascend the Tiers and become living legends.
With their recommendation and a stolen Skill, Matt begins his journey to the peak of power. Maybe then, he can get vengeance he seeks....
Experience the start of an action-packed fantasy adventure that blends everything you love about LitRPG with Xianxia. With five million views on Royal Road, this hit web serial is new and improved and now available.
About the series: This is a mix between LitRPG and Xianxia. It's like a car that looks like a LitRPG with dungeons and skills, but the interior and engine are all Xianxia. It features a magic system and progression system that are logically and internally consistent, as well as realistic fight scenes and a rational MC.
©2022 Aethon Books (P)2023 Aethon AudioIt’s unfortunate that they chose this as it REALLY detracts from the overall experience, hence three stars.
PS this is the first of an ongoing series.

I've tried reading them, but the tech manual bits mean I skip those parts.
I'd say the books could be shortened by maybe 30% without losing story quality.
I guess some people like that in their books, but it makes it a bit of a slog at times from my point of view.
I enjoy these books, but they're too detail heavy

I've read so many of these types of books and I can't understand why shout out the skills at the listeners every time they are mentioned I found it took away from the story the way you make them sound is like when you press one of those children/dog buttons being NO or YES
Good Story

Only thing I would change is how the skill names presented as it breaks the flow of the fights when multiple skills are used.
Fun story

I would say there is some of the descriptive text that is definitely needed and makes it a good story but after listening long enough you realise that there is probably a quarter of the descriptive text that is overkill and you want the story to just get a move on.
I honestly believe the author feels the description is needed but it does irk you a little when you hear or notice that one extra sentence or phrase that really wasn’t needed to move the story and than another and another…
Enjoyable mostly

10/10 good story that doesn't over complicated its self.
