Story
Ivy K. Harlowe is a lot of things. She's my best friend. She's the center of attention. She is, without fail, the hottest girl in the room. Anytime. Anyplace. She has freckles and dimples and bright green eyes, and with someone else's energy she'd be adorable. But there is nothing cute about Ivy. She is ice and hot metal and electricity. She is the girl who every lesbian wants, but she has never been with the same person twice. She's one-of-a-kind but also predictable, so I will always be Andie, her best friend, never Andie, her girlfriend.

Tossed around in the rough seas of medical training, chronically exhausted and emotionally drained, Patricia chafes at the toxic masculinity of the culture of medicine facing many of the same issues women face in male-dominated fields today.

Story
Today’s gay youth have dozens of queer peer heroes, both fictional and real, but former gay teenager Grace Perry did not have that luxury. Instead, she had to search for queerness in the (largely straight) teen cultural phenomena the aughts had to offer: in Lindsay Lohan’s fall from grace, Gossip Girl, Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl”, country-era Taylor Swift, and Seth Cohen jumping on a coffee cart. And, for better or worse, these touch points shaped her adult identity. She came out on the other side like many millennials did: in her words, gay as hell.

Publisher's Summary
Lakshmi, called Lucky, is an unemployed millennial programmer. She likes to dance and have a drink or two, and she makes art on commission. Fifty bucks gets you high-resolution digital images of anything you want (orcs, mermaids, cos-playing couples in sexy boudoir scenes) and a nice frameable print. Lucky's husband, Krishna, is an editor for a greeting card company. Both are secretly gay. They present their conservative Sri Lankan American families with a heterosexual front while each dates on the side.
When Lucky's grandmother has a nasty fall, Lucky returns to her mother's home to act as caretaker and unexpectedly reconnects with her childhood best friend and first lover, Nisha. Nisha has agreed to an arranged marriage with a man she doesn't know but finds herself attracted to her old friend. The attraction is mutual, and Lucky tries to save Nisha from entering a marriage based on a lie. But does Nisha really want to be saved? And what does Lucky want, anyway? To live openly means that Lucky would lose most of the community she was born into - a community she loves, an irreplaceable home. Lucky, an outsider no matter what choices she makes, is pushed to the breaking point.

Loved it!
Loved the book and how the narrator brought the emotions into what the charaters said throughout the book. This is the first book I have read/listened to where the protangist is not heterosexual. This book brings a mixture of sexuality, culture and societal expectations that I identify with.
