Publisher's Summary

From New York Times best-selling author Penelope Ward comes a new, sexy stand-alone novel.

It seemed like a good idea at the time. Look up Landon Roderick, that boy from childhood whom I'd never been able to forget - even though he so easily forgot about me - and call him.

Then again, anything sounds like a good idea when you've had a little too much wine before bed, right? It was supposed to be just a quick, meaningless prank call. Instead I went off on him - unloading 13 years of pent-up emotions.

I didn't think he'd call me back.

I certainly could never have anticipated the weeks of sexually tense phone conversations that followed as I got to know the man he'd become.

Turned out Landon had never really forgotten me, either. That special connection we had was still there. I opened up to him, but there were also things about me he didn't know. And he had his own secrets.

Over the countless hours we talked on the phone, I wondered what would happen if we actually saw each other. One night I did something impulsive again. Only this time I went to the airport and booked a ticket to California. We were about to find out if one phone call could bring two lost souls together or if my drunk dial really was all just a big mistake.

A complete stand-alone.

    "I'm blown away"

Penelope Ward absolutely blew my mind with this one. The emotional rollercoaster that was Landon and Ronnas story was masterfully written. This book spoke to me on so many levels, I truly don't have words to express how much I truly enjoyed it.

    "BEAUTIFULLY FLAWED AND PERFECT!!!!"

This book is easily one of my absolute favorites of the year and will be a repeat listen without a doubt. The title doesn't really give you an idea of the depth and love that is at the core of this beautiful love story. Penelope Ward cleverly intertwined humor, wit, and romance into a story line that had little to do with being drunk. Everyone wants the type of passion, love and acceptance that was revealed in the relationships of the characters in this story.
I fell irrevocably for Landon, Lilith, Ronna and Pappa! This was such a beautiful story, and the emotion was just, oh my gosh, I was totally caught up in all the feels!!

    5 well-deserved stars!!!

    "Adorable Swoonfest"

    4.5 Stars
What an adorable swoonfest! Drunk Dial by Penelope Ward was sweet, funny, romantic and emotional, and pressed all of my “like” buttons.

First off, I loved that Rana Saloomi was ethnic without it being a major focus. I really loved her character, she had a rough time growing up, an unattractive tomboy whose mother abandoned her. Now a beautiful belly dancer, Rana still had some huge insecurities. When she was 13, her family rented a garage from The Rodericks, and she became best friends with the son, Landon, who she actually had a huge crush on. But her family moved quickly, and she never saw Landon again.

One night after work, she drank a bottle of wine, and decided to look up Landon and give him a piece of her mind for letting the friendship die.

He let out a deep breath. A moment of silence passed, until he finally said, “Rana Banana?”

"Will you drunk dial me again? I feel like I'm not done with your crazy."

OMG, I absolutely loved how these two reconnected via text and phone. They lived across the country from each other, but the chemistry and feelings these two had grew quickly in the long distance relationship.

    “Tell me something funny.”

When the two finally meet in person, Landon couldn’t have been more perfect.

“His hands may have been calloused; his arms may have been inked; he may have looked dangerous, but Landon was as gentle as he was protective.”

They both made a lot of mistakes over the years, Made some bad life decisions, but they are both learning to live with those mistakes.

"Maybe it's not really a mistake if you learn from it."

Penelope Ward had lots of twists and turns in this book that kept the plot interesting, but I loved that there wasn’t the typical romance drama.

    Likes:

•I loved the premise and setup so much!
    •There were numerous plot twists.
•I smiled the entire time, and laughed out loud a lot.
    •Brought out every emotion.
    •I loved Lana’s inner voice.
    •Landon was so romantic!
    •Didn’t follow a typical formula.
    •Loved the side characters.
•Once together, they were a very functional couple (for lack of a better word).

    Dislikes:

•One of the weird mysteries about her wasn’t really a big deal and kind of went nowhere.
•The blurb gives away too much.

    The Narration:
It’s Andi Arndt, and it’s all from the female POV. Though I do think she is overused, she did an amazing job.

    The Down & Dirty:
I LOVED Drunk Dial! It was everything I look for in a romance. It had humor, was unique and unpredictable, was sexy and had characters I want to be friends with who were flawed and real. I didn’t mind the quick fall for each other, because they already had a past together, even if it was from childhood. There were some unexpected twists and turns that kept me on my toes, and I felt all the emotions while listening to this. I highly recommend Drunk Dial if you are looking for a romance on the lighter side, but still with some depth and emotion.

"Refreshing twist on characters, sensual story"

I want to thank Penelope Ward for taking a chance on creating a heroine who is beautiful, exotic, yet flawed in such an different way than most other romance stories. This speaks to many of us who lived through ugly duckling teen years as the 'ethnic' girl. [Spoiler] And, being adopted myself, the Landon portrays how adoptees make sense of their own beginnings. Both characters chemistry is steamy and yet have respect for each other. I would love to hear and read more stories like this. You don't need a billionaire alpha to create the friction like Penelope did in this story. And as always, applause for Andi Arndt's narration.

    "Beautiful"

What a lovely, standalone, ‘sort of’ second chance romance, I say sort of, because Landon and Rana were only ever friends before they were ripped from each other's lives. 13 years later and after a few too many drinks one night Rana looks up Landon’s number and rings him, herein begins a beautiful long distance telephone relationship. Both Landon and Rana have secrets that they know must be shared before they can think about a serious relationship together, the question is, are they willing to accept each others’ pasts and move forward together? The writing is perfect, I cannot fault a single page, Landon is pretty much the quintessential bad boy turned good, so so good. The chemistry is off the charts hot, phone sex never read this good. With some unexpected little twists, lots of funny moments and some real heart wrenching scenes this book had it all. Romance at its finest. So glad I didn't let this one pass me by.
As usual Andi Arndt nailed it, I don't know a female narrator who pulls off a man's voice better, she is so so good with any character given to her. Perfect.

"Stepbrother Dearest is my favourite PW novel, but Landon gives Elec a run for his money."

As always Penelope Ward has given her readers a. Oil that will not be easily forgotten. Apart from Stepbrother Dearest, which is my favourite PW book, Drunk Dial comes a very close second. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and a knew as soon as I had read the blurb it was a must-read.

This is the second audiobook I have listened to, and unfortunately I was a huge fan of the narrators performance when it came to Landon. It just seemed a little cheesy, and will probably make me read all books in the future. I can't really explain it, I think I prefer my own inner voice when it comes to the characters.

That being said, this was an amazing and addictive story, that has become a favourite of mine and will most definitely have me buying the PB, so that I may read it again in the future.
