Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Publisher's Summary
When the doors of the lift crank open, the only thing Thomas remembers is his first name. But he's not alone. He's surrounded by boys who welcome him to the Glade - a walled encampment at the centre of a bizarre and terrible stone maze.
Like Thomas, the Gladers don't know why or how they came to be there - or what's happened to the world outside. All they know is that every morning when the walls slide back, they will risk everything - even the Grievers, half-machine, half-animal horror that patrol its corridors, to try and find out.

Great story, well read except for girl voices
The Maze Runner was our family road trip audio book. It really did make the miles fly by. Daddy loved the romantic tension. Neve lived Newt. Camryn liked the cliffhanger chapters. Mummy liked the way nobody complained about the car trip.

a Hitchcock book.
I intended to listen to this book casually before I went to see the movie. But I found it extremely intense because it was full of questions, and you are kept on the edge of your seat as it unfolds. it was full of suspense, it's not overly complicated in language or profound in the way some books are, it's just enjoyable. And I plan to it listen again.

First in a SERIES!
Would you consider the audio edition of The Maze Runner to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print version but wanted to listen to the book before watching the film….very glad I did!
What did you like best about this story?
…as the story was amazing and kept me interested right through to the final word
What does Mark Deakins bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
The fact you don't realise someone is reading to you. His narration was excellent - I knew the characters and just listened to the story
Any additional comments?
I was confused by the reviews saying there was only half a book and assumed this had been corrected as there appeared to be a book one and two. What I didn't realise is that this is part 1 of a 3 part series [Scorch Trials here we come] There's also a prequel that isn't on audio yet….hint hint audible.
