The Journal of James Halldon continues... After escaping from The Corridor with DogThing, Rudy and Adler, James discovers that the world awaiting him outside is just as harsh as the one he had left behind. The horrors that he had escaped from, that lurked in the darkness, would continue to haunt him in the bright sunlight of The Broken Lands. Will he find a way to recover his memories? Who was the creature that hunted him in The Corridor?

Alone again. Sitting on the ledge in the darkness of The Corridor. A sword thrust through his chest. His faithful companion, DogThing - thrown to the horde of zombies below. The scaffold bridge that was his only escape - destroyed. Rudy, Adler, Reg, and Marie - all separated by the closed portal.

Connor Halldon believed what he had been told as a child. His mother had died in combat on a distant world. Until he finds an old message that had been left for him on the same day that she had fallen in combat. Now he doesn't know what to believe. Has his whole life since that day been based on lies? Was his mother even dead? Now, the Resistance soldiers are hunting him down, and he doesn't even know why. All he can do is follow the trail left for him.

Connor leaves the darkness of The Corridor behind him and finds himself in another strange place that his great-grandfather - James Halldon - visited and noted in his diary. But things have changed in the ruined city of Riverfall since the diary was written, and this part of the journey doesn't look like it will be as easy as Connor had hoped.

Ten years after the apocalypse destroyed the world that she knew, a survivor returns to her home town, hoping to piece together the bits of her past that have troubled her so much ever since.

Connor continues on the trail of James Halldon and DogThing, but now he isn't alone. GreyFoot seems to know where they are to go, but not what they will encounter on the way there. Connor's journey takes him to a place that seems to tease all the answers but give none. In the end he will be faced with a decision, and a hard one.Should he risk everything for one chance to change things forever?
