About this listen

Ah, Nyil, with its magic, its monsters, and its petty gods. A divine spat leaves French medic Viv stranded in the middle of an arcane disaster zone crawling with undead horrors. Thankfully, there are strange allies to be found, not least the mysterious interface that helps humans survive in this merciless world.

Viv will have to progress fast to survive this calamity and find civilisation. She will also need a bit of luck. Unless, of course, she becomes the calamity herself. After all, luck is such a fickle thing.

A fantastic book that's perhaps not quite my style, but so good that doesn't matter.

The story revolves around a French woman transported to another world and dropped in the middle of a wasteland full of zombies. There are F bombs aplenty and the occasional adult concept, so this probably isn't a story for kids.

It's a surprisingly good, realistic (for the fact that magic exists) story that has obviously had a whole lot of forethought put into worldbuilding before the author ever started writing. Though it's slow at times, I found myself engrossed in the storyline and genuinely looking forward to the next time I could pick the book up.

There were a fair few grammatical mistakes scattered throughout the Kindle version of this book, but the audiobook was exceptional, with masterful editing to enhance various aspects, such as a light reverb on stat announcements which really enhanced the story experience.

Would I continue this series? Absolutely. This is one of the more exceptional litRPG books out there today - maybe not quite up there with DCC, but very close behind it.

Exceptional litRPG, exceptional audiobook
