Story4.5 out of 5 stars 4

'The Praise of Folly', written in Latin in 1509 and spoken by the goddess Folly (who champions a lively enjoyment of life), was a bold satire on (in the cautious contemporary environment) not only Western classical traditions but also the Catholic Church. Dedicated to More himself, Erasmus wittily challenged entrenched views in so forthright (and humanist) a style that it could have brought him in direct conflict with the papacy. Fortunately the pope, Leo X, enjoyed the humour and the challenge!

In "Praise of Folly", also translated as "The Praise of Folly", is an essay written in Latin in 1509 by Desiderius Erasmus of Rotterdam and first printed in June 1511. Inspired by previous works of the Italian humanist Faustino Perisauli De Triumpho Stultitiae, it is a satirical attack on superstitions, other traditions of European society and on the Western Church. Erasmus revised and extended his work, which was originally written in the space of a week while sojourning with Sir Thomas More at More's house in Bucklersbury in the City of London.

Welcome to The Nocturne Library — a place that was never built, only found. Here, Dr. Erasmus Grimwick preserves diaries that were never meant to be read: the confessions of killers, monsters, and mob legends. Each episode is a literary audio experience — no music, no sound effects, only the voices of those who once lived (and died) by their own obsessions. Told entirely in first person, every diary reveals the thoughts, motives, and madness behind history’s most infamous minds. Three categories. Three worlds. Minds of Madness — the diaries of history’s most notorious killers. ️ ...

In Geniality, the second volume of The Equilibrist Series, author Erasmus Cromwell-Smith II takes us deeper into the life and mind of Professor Cromwell-Smith and his beloved Victoria. Spanning dormitory gatherings at Harvard, clandestine mentor sessions, and unexpected crossroads of separation and reunion, this narrative unveils how true genius lies not in rarified intellect but in the authenticity and warmth of our everyday gifts.

I seek to elicit joy and reflection through my scribbles, short stories, and poetry. Additionally, I aim at provoking awareness and attention to the small details in life. In final analysis is inspiration what I try to bring out of every reader...(written by Erasmus Cromwell-Smith and narrated by Daniel Dorse) www.erasmuscromwellsmith.com
