Story
'This could be heaven or this could be hell...' So sings Don Henley on their biggest hit, 'Hotel California', yet for The Eagles their story was one where the dividing line between ultimate Hollywood highs and subterranean LA lows was blurred beyond recognition, blinded by white-powdered double-visions and buried beneath greenback mountains.

Story
While there are many books about writing, none deal firsthand with the intersection of songwriting, storytelling, and vocation, along with nuts-and-bolts exploration of the great mystery of creativity. In Adorning the Dark, Andrew describes six principles for the writing life: serving the work, serving the audience, selectivity, discernment, discipline, and community. Through stories from his own journey, Andrew shows how these principles are not merely helpful for writers and artists but for anyone interested in imitating the way the Creator interacts with his creation.

But this all changed with the arrival of Dark Black and Blue: The Soundgarden Story. Written by author/journalist (and longtime Soundgarden fan) Greg Prato, the audiobook tells the Seattle band’s complete story - beginning with its members pre-SG days, all the way to today.

Story
Here Comes the Night: Bert Berns and the Dirty Business of Rhythm and Blues is both a definitive account of the New York rhythm and blues world of the early '60s, and the harrowing, ultimately tragic story of songwriter and record producer Bert Berns, whose meteoric career was fueled by his pending doom. His heart damaged by rheumatic fever as a youth, doctors told Berns he would not live to see 21. Although his name is little remembered today, Berns worked alongside all the greats of the era.

Story
Why has music so often served as an accomplice to transcendent expressions of gender? Why did the query "is he musical?" become code, in the 20th century, for "is he gay?" Why is music so inherently queer? For Sasha Geffen, the answers lie, in part, in music’s intrinsic quality of subliminal expression, which, through paradox and contradiction, allows rigid gender roles to fall away in a sensual and ambiguous exchange between performer and listener. Glitter Up the Dark traces the history of this gender fluidity in pop music from the early 20th century to the present day.

Dark Ambient for Sleep

Story
Dark Ambient for Sleep is transmitting soundscapes in the lower frequencies. Consisting of repeating patterns with no surprises. The sounds of the deep and endless slumber; in the monotone the mind can wander into worlds, deconstructing and reconstructing meaning. I made this podcast for my self, not being able to find any podcasts without high frequency bells (which is great for mornings, meditation, relaxation, study/focus, etc. - but not, for me, deep sleep). These soundscapes are closely related and can be considered brown noise.
