Jahrhundert - von den Nazis während des Zweiten Weltkriegs erbeutet - sei im Erholungsort Noosa, in der sengenden Hitze der Sunshine Coast im Haus eines Pädophilen aufgetaucht und eine israelische Auftraggeberin biete viel Geld dafür.

Wyatt erbeutet bei einem Einbruch in dem Haus einer Politikerin $ 50 000 und ein gesuchtes Schmuckstück - und hat bald nicht nur die Polizei, sondern auch dubiose Typen am Hals. Doch in diesem Spiel bestimmt Wyatt die Regeln, und Angriff ist die beste Verteidigung. Fernab der Heimat, auf einem Anwesen an den Klippen des tropischen Südseehafens Port Vila, macht er den Drahtzieher ausfindig.

Wyatt muss untertauchen, nachdem der letzte Job völlig in die Hosen ging. Die Polizei fahndet nach ihm, und das Syndikat hat ein Kopfgeld auf ihn angesetzt. Ein zwielichtiger Typ namens Enter Stolle, der sich darauf spezialisiert hat, Leute zu suchen, die nicht gefunden werden wollen, ist auch hinter Wyatt her, um ihn für einen Klienten in Brisbane aufzuspüren. Es geht um einen Bankjob, der zwei Millionen bringen kann... ein Kinderspiel für Wyatt, normalerweise, wenn nicht ein hochverschuldeten Bankdirektor, ein Waffen schmuggelnder Pilot, korrupte Bullen und ehrgeizige Punks dazwischenfunken würden.

Wyatt hat es auf die Lohngelder einer Baufirma abgesehen, die im australischen Busch eine Pipeline verlegt. Gemeinsam mit Leah, einer ehemaligen Prostituierten, stellt er ein Team zusammen, um den Geldtransporter abzufangen. Doch sie sind nicht die Einzigen, die Beute machen wollen. Zu allem Überfluss setzen die Mesics aus Sydney den suspendierten Ex-Bullen Letterman als Kopfgeldjäger auf Wyatt an, weil der ihnen einst bei einem Drogendeal in Melbourne in die Quere kam. Alles in allem keine guten Voraussetzungen für Wyatt, um ungestört arbeiten zu können.

Die Rechtsanwältin Anna Reid erzählt Wyatt von $200.000 Schmiergeld im Safe ihres Partners. Geld, um Beamte von der Stadtplanungskommission zu bestechen. Zusammen schmieden sie einen Plan für einen Raubüberfall. In "GIER" gibt es keine Erlösung, keine Gnade, der Showdown am Ende ist vorprogrammiert.
