Summary

An unidentified man is fished out of the sea with an anchor strapped to his waist. And for DI Hal Challis, this sparks the beginning of a chilling series of shotgun killings. As Challis investigates, a farmer on the peninsula erupts into violence and is the target of a massive manhunt. And then Challis finds some aerial photographs in the possession of his friend Kitty that link her to the murders....

I enjoyed the story, it kept me listening. I did not enjoy the narrator. Wrong voice for the story.

wrong narrator for story

Lots of murders but not creepy. This mystery covers the lives of the Mornington peninsula cops and evokes the rather in-bred seaside town and it’s beautiful coastal environment. As usual with Disher a great plot and believable ending. Sorry the narrator can’t pronounce the names of Victorian country towns Tooradin has the emphasis on the first not second syllable. A bit irritating

Engrossing not gruesome

I love many of Gary Dishers books but this one didn’t impress. On top of this, the narration was awful.

Underwhelmed

I cannot recommend this book. The story is not only dated, the characters are also irritating. However, the narration is worse than any of this.
