  • The Power You Hold Within You

    It’s important that we redefine what living a healthy lifestyle means if we want to achieve our desired outcome of feeling like our happiest, healthiest selves. But how do we do that? I’ve spent many years observing human emotions and behaviors in myself and others, and have also read, prayed, meditated, and journaled about what it is that we’re actually wanting to feel that will make us happy. I’ve found that what lies underneath our desire to feel worthy and whole is our desire to feel deeply and completely loved. I’ve also discovered, or more accurately said, rediscovered, the source of power that makes this possible for each of us. It’s a source of power that we don’t need to go searching for, schedule an appointment for, earn, or buy. It’s freely and completely accessible to us. Because, this source of power exists within us.

  • An Inside-Out Approach to Healthy Living

    Is your reason for wanting to live a healthy lifestyle actually about your health, or is it because you believe that it will improve your appearance and help you feel more beautiful and worthy in other people’s eyes, and perhaps even your own? And if your body does fit into the mold of how society portrays beauty, maybe deep down, you still struggle with feelings of insecurity.

    I know these feelings, because for most of my life, this was me. And I believe it’s this feeling of unworthiness and a disconnection from what’s real and true about who we are that’s contributing to much of the emotional issues plaguing so many adults and young people today. This message fails us, causing us to feel inadequate when we don’t live up to this ideal. But I also believe there’s an inner stirring, a call for our attention that’s coming from deep within us that’s asking us to take a look at how we’ve been approaching health and happiness.

    During this episode of the Love Empowered Podcast, I explore what it is that has been motivating so many of us to live a healthy lifestyle, and how this motivator has been setting us up for failure both in terms of achieving our goals, and in achieving our desired outcome—to feel beautiful and worthy.     Here is the exercise I guide you through in the episode. I recommend writing it down or taking a photo of it on your phone and placing it in a journal to make it easier to practice regularly.

    Journal prompts: 

    • What’s your current motivator, or motivators, for living a healthy lifestyle? 
    • What do you see when you look at your body? How would you describe your reflection in the mirror, and how has this perspective influenced the way you honor and care for your body? 

    Practice:
    Something you can do to help make the shift to seeing yourself through a Love Empowered lens is to  practice looking at your body from a higher perspective. From this higher view, spend a few moments bringing your attention to all the small miracles that your body performs for you each day. Next, name as many things as you can that make you grateful for your body. Finally, name as many things as you can that make you beautiful on the inside.

  • Becoming Love Empowered

    Have you ever looked in the mirror and judged or felt ashamed of your reflection because it doesn’t fit into the mold of what society says makes us beautiful, and worthy of acceptance and love?
