Show notes? What are show notes? How do I export this thing? Where does the microphone plug in? How do we do this again? WHY IS THE AUDIO SO TERRIBLE?!

The moms are BACK, baby! You know how the best friends are the ones you don't talk to for 6 months, but then you pick up the phone and you're right back where you started? That's us. And YOU! Don't you feel special?

But seriously, we're glad to be back. Even if we don't remember how to write show notes.

  • The Moms Cross the Pond
    Mar 3 2024

Join Maxine and Millie as they cross the pond to visit their good friend (and ghost with the most), theatre legend, Rob Falconer! Remember the time the moms went on a cruise and stayed up way past their bedtimes? Rob is the reason! They must have spoken his name three times unbroken (or maybe it’s just their shitty internet and whatever's in Rob's Pepsi), because this episode is completely off the rails. (Don’t) Mind the sound gap – Millie’s editing skills are as non-existent as Lydia Deetz’s mom.

This episode has a little bit of everything – from Cockroaches to Creedence Clearwater Revival – but is definitely not for young ears!

  • Valentines Day, Super Bowl, and Two Exhausted Moms
    Feb 18 2024

Happy 13th episode! Did we mention that 13 is Taylor’s lucky number? No, but we might be the only ones who haven't!

It’s been a week. Millie’s husband is off on a wild adventure without her, leaving her solo parenting for 2 ½ weeks. Maxine is exhausted from her dream job, but excited for her oldest son to come home (before he jets off back to NYC to be a star).

This episode has something for everyone: Blood draws, absentee husbands, Usher, Rihanna, Eminem, Tay Diggs, Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift, NFL conspiracy theories, matchstick eating (don’t try that at home, friends). Phew!

The friends discuss the Super Bowl, the good (Usher?) the bad (Usher?), the ugly (um….Travis…you’re gonna give yourself an aneurism…), and the crazy (did Dark Brandon really script the whole thing?).

Speaking of…nothing really…how was your Valentine’s Day? The ladies didn’t do much except go to tap class and eat gluten free pizza. But, really, what more could you ask for? Candy hearts that break your teeth and cigarette-infused brownies? Those were the good old days!

  • 80s Movies Are the Shit
    Feb 4 2024

Millie and Maxine haven’t seen each other in weeks (sad face) since Maxine got her dream job (yay!). In their first ever remote recording session they reminisce about their favorite 80s (and some 90s) flicks and Millie discovers something about Maxine she didn’t know! What’s the big discovery? And will they mention your favorite film? You’ll have to listen to find out!

Why are 80s movies so awesome? Does it matter why? Let’s just all agree they’re the best and move on.

On a more serious note, Millie has joined a “banned book club” and just read “Night” by Elie Weisel, about a young boy’s experience in a Nazi death camp. She finished it weeks ago but is still haunted by it. If you haven’t read it, you should. Everyone should.

  • Dating is a Shitshow
    Jan 21 2024

Millie and Maxine get real about kids, dating, and kids dating. Oh wait, it’s not called “dating” anymore. It’s “talking.” Another GenZ phrase demystified – you’re welcome! What they can’t figure out is why their teens are Facetiming each other but not looking at the screen. Remember talking on the landline phone to your crush for hours until your mom made you hang up because you didn’t have call waiting?

They discuss dating in your 40s and if you should (or can even find the time to) continue to “date” your spouse. They share their best and worst date stories (Millie’s worst may involve a cowboy hat and her best definitely involves a rooftop picnic) and Maxine finally has to admit that Millie’s husband isn’t so bad after all.

And, finally, the friends imagine what their lives would be like if they had to choose their careers at age 6. PhD in bugs, anyone?

  • Fit Over 40, Mom-style
    Jan 7 2024

Millie’s husband is about to climb a mountain AND spend three months doing military duty. Will she survive? Will the kids survive? What about the 4 chickens, 2 dogs, 1 cat, and a choke-prone horse? We shall see. But one thing is certain, life is a lot harder for many other military spouses out there, so if you’re one of them – thank you.

And speaking of things that are hard, the new year has got the moms thinking about their health and wondering which of the myriad fitness options to try, stating with farm yoga and a sound bath. They discuss the laundry list of things the internet tells them they’re supposed to be doing: cardio, strength training (but not too much strength training), sauna, ice baths, and salt water to name a few. Maxine shares her favorite health-focused Instagramers for women of a certain age and Millie gives a dissertation on Orange Theory.

Who is that woman in the mirror? Why is it so much harder to stay in shape now? When did they get so old? And what’s with the characters at the gym? Will the friends be able to achieve the elusive “fit over 40”? You’ll have to tune in to find out!

  • New Year, New Moms
    Dec 31 2023

The moms are *this* close to surviving the holidays. Hanukkah is done, and all that’s left for Maxine is to force her family into their matching pjs. Millie, on the other hand, is still trying to forgive herself for dialing in Christmas this year with Dollar Store boxes and no bows. It’s a big change from the matching wrapping paper of yesteryear. But her therapist has ordered her to stop being such a perfectionist, so here we are!

Once they get through Christmas, all that’s left is New Year’s Eve. The ladies have plans to spend it together, trying to make it to midnight for the first time in, well, ever. Will they be making New Year’s resolutions? The answer is a resounding “fuck, no!” but, well, maybe, if it involves stopping for smoked chicken at the liquor store.

  • A Three Hour Tour - Mom Edition
    Dec 24 2023

Maxine and Millie had so much to tell you about their big cruise, they had to split it into two episodes! Millie treated herself to a day of pampering, which ended in a cold pedicure and a desperate plea for her husband to return early. Maxine finally got off the ferry from Hell, only to be greeted with her own real-life Titanic moment. And those aren’t the only stories the Moms have to tell about why they’ll be staying on land for a while. Bonus: You’ll hear an extra special tale from a mystery guest!

On a sappier note, Maxine prepares Millie for what it’s like to say goodbye to your grown children and why it’s so important to the moms that their kids are close. And the moms try to redeem themselves by telling you all the good things they would do for the world if they won the lottery (after going shopping, of course).
