About this listen

I’m your host Carly McGrath & you are very welcome to The Move Mo Chara Podcast. Two things, I LOVE talking & I LOVE moving, so I am putting the two together and bringing this podcast to you.

For those of you who don’t know, Mo Chara is an Irish phrase meaning ‘My Friend’ and if you haven’t already guessed from the title of this podcast, we are here to talk about movement in all forms!

Moving my body is therapeutic for me and this podcast stems from my love for staying active. My ultimate goal is to inspire you to move your body and to remind you that ALL MOVEMENT COUNTS! We live in a society today that encourages us to prioritize our well-being and streamline our passions. Movement for me, is a passion.

On this podcast, I bring to you wholesome conversations with my guests and I truly hope that listening to their journeys help bring a spring to your step and encourage you to get in some daily movement. Whether that’s a stretch in the garden, a dance in the kitchen or a heavy lifting session at the gym. Friends, Let’s Move!

  • S2 E2: Caitriona Jennings
    Jun 28 2023

Caitriona Jennings joins me on the podcast this week. Caitriona first represented Ireland as a juvenile tri-athlete and later learned she had a talent for long-distance running. Her competitive nature held true when she qualified for the 2012 London Olympics representing Ireland in the marathon. No stranger to adversity, Caitriona is honest in telling me that she did not get the result she aimed for at the Olympics due to injury and shares the mental training she uses to remain resilient in times like this. She describes the recent years as pinnacle points in her athletic career placing 3rd in the World 100km and 1st in the European 50km. She continues to hold the national record in Ireland for both the 50km and 100km races. Naturally, she is also a running coach and motivational speaker, I mean who would not want to hear from one of the best ultra runners in the world? Caitríona humbly balances her athletic career with a successful professional career, specializing in Law and Accounting. She is a veteran of long-distance running and it was lovely to sit down and chat with her about all things running, routine & mindset.

Thank you to Caitriona for being such a great guest! https://www.caitrionajennings.com/

    Jun 21 2023

Hello and welcome back to The Move Mo Chara Podcast. This is Season 2, I am still your host Carly McGrath and I am very happy to bring another season of the podcast your way.

Brenda Bannon joins me on the podcast this week. Brenda is a radiographer by trade and is also a qualified personal trainer and nutrition coach. She is an extremely passionate and dedicated team player in the world of Gaelic Football. She has worn the green and white of Fermanagh with pride for years and has been a part of winning teams in all aspects of GAA including club, province, and county. Just days after Fermanagh won the Junior All-Ireland in December 2020, Brenda sadly lost her Mom. In this episode, Brenda talks about how positive the team environment was for her at this time and also about the support she received through the Women's Gaelic Players Association. As if Brenda didn’t have enough to keep her busy, she took up AFLW last year and earned herself a European Championship medal. She is currently studying a Master's Degree in performance coaching and runs an exceptional online platform @barbellsandbakes_.
