• An introspective Walk || The Power Of Written Word || The Benefits Of Reading Regularly
    Apr 17 2024

When was the last time you sat down to relax and read a good book? For some, it may have been just the other day. Others may have listened to a book instead, and still others may not have the time or interest. In this episode i reminisce about how avidly I used to read fiction, appreciate my ability to do so now, and review some benefits of taking the time to sit down with a book every once in a while. Enjoy!

Through technology we can communicate and connect with people more than ever before, but somehow people feel more disconnected now that before. Some people spend most of their lives trying to make money, only to live out tehir days trying not to spend it all. Life is full or irony, but sometimes it can be difficult to recognize it at the time. In this episode I share some ironic stories and think about the role irony plays in life. Enjoy!

    Quote:

“Brain research tells us that only twenty percent of human beings have a sense of irony, which means that eighty percent of the world takes everything at face value.” - Douglas Coupland.

  • Unconscious Competence || Wise men Aren't Always Right || Curiosity And Questioning
    Apr 13 2024

Ahve you ever used a phrase or expression simply because it's commonly understood? Maybe there are complex philosophical concepts that you understand, but have never researched. In this episode, I take a few minutes to look at some of the most influential philosophers, and point out a few things they believed that we might think twice about today. The more often we question and research what we think and believe, the more confident we can be about where our ideals come from. Enjoy!

  • A Story For Myself || Peace Amidst The Storm || When It Seems Impossible
    Apr 11 2024

Have you ever looked at a note you wrote in the past and felt like you had created a message for your future self? That's the feeling I got as I was creating today's episode, which incorporates a recording I did during the short break I took several weeks ago. I wrote a story that shows grit, fortitude, and determination, even though the protagonist can't necessarily see it at the time. Sometimes when times are tough, even if you want to quit, your "why" is strong enough that you'll just do what needs to be done anyway. Enjoy!

  • Season 2 Recommences || The Day Of The Eclipse || What Am I Even Doing?
    Apr 11 2024

And why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves back up. After another short break, Good morning On Purpose returns in earnest! While a consistent record is something to be proud of, I am even happier to have hit a wall 75 episodes in. It's helped me affirm why I do this project, what has been difficult, and what I have enjoyed the most in the process of putting this whole thing together. Self doubt, overwhelm, criticism, fatigue, and stress are both caused and alleviated as I do this work, but funnily enough - those things still persisted when I wasn't putting out episodes. Hardship will always find its way back into our lives. Having something consistent and intentional to keep us grounded and focused certainly helps to let the good shine through. Enjoy!

    Mar 25 2024

Imagine living without batteries, electric bulbs, cars, radio, television, or even matches. Before the 1800s we didn't have any of these things. The difference between life two hundred years ago and life today is astounding, and technology hasn't slowed pace since. In today's eisode i discuss many changes to technology over the last two hundred years, and finish it all up with my first Big Question, something I will continue to do every seven episodes. I hope that you can take time to think about these questions, and how they fit in with your lifestyle, mental health, and vision for the future. Enjoy!
