Publisher's Summary

Book three of the Ciaphas Cain series.

An old rival, infighting with fellow Astra Militarum regiments and the small matter of a cult devoted to the Chaos God Slaanesh derail Commissar Cain's hope for a quiet and uneventful mission.

Ciaphas Cain's latest mission takes him and his Valhallan regiment to the planet of Adumbria to defend against an approaching Chaos invasion. However, infighting with fellow Imperial Guard regiments from the world of Tallarn, commanded by an old 'friend' of Cain's from the Schola Progenium and the uprising of a sinister cult on the planet puts paid to any hopes of an easy life.

the best so far

best story so far with an exciting final act sure to satisfy most . my one critical point is the authors over reliance on certain adjectives, which as you listen to the series begin to stick out like a sore thumb.

Another saga of our favourite anti hero!

I really enjoy these books, Sandy Mitchell writes a great story with a really believable charecter set in the grim dark. Ciaphas makes me laugh so many times. great story, original and worth the read!

Fantastic

The Cain saga continues to be one of my favourite 40k series that have ever been wrriten. Stephen Perring and all the other narrators are wonderful.

Excellent but at minimal times repetitive.

I love this series but at times I find Amberly's interjections at the end of a chapter very repetitive in regard to her constant commentary on the justification of the added contents inclusion and her feelings towards the characters who supposedly created the content.

Other than that fantastic time in the 40k universe. Would recommend.

Fabulous, one glitch

great series as always. there is an issue with the recording where the chapters seem to start in the middle of the chapters. so using the auto end of chapter function is moot. otherwise fabulous as always :D

Fantastic, Exhilarating and Hilarious

Cain does it again, barely escaping fate as he does best. This time against the Forces of Chaos
