About this listen

Book three of the Ciaphas Cain series.

An old rival, infighting with fellow Astra Militarum regiments and the small matter of a cult devoted to the Chaos God Slaanesh derail Commissar Cain's hope for a quiet and uneventful mission.

Ciaphas Cain's latest mission takes him and his Valhallan regiment to the planet of Adumbria to defend against an approaching Chaos invasion. However, infighting with fellow Imperial Guard regiments from the world of Tallarn, commanded by an old 'friend' of Cain's from the Schola Progenium and the uprising of a sinister cult on the planet puts paid to any hopes of an easy life.

Great listen. Cain is a highly relatable character and getting into his head is funny. Good action, good hype, will not leave you disappointed.

As always, the ending is hilariously satisfying

The Traitors Hand was a delight to listen to, made both better and worse by several mistakes in the editing of the narration, such as when characters exchange lines without so much as a second to breathe or the odd occasion when our talented voice of Cain re-attempts a line. The little sigh of frustration after one particularly trying sentence was very relatable. 9/10

I love this series but at times I find Amberly's interjections at the end of a chapter very repetitive in regard to her constant commentary on the justification of the added contents inclusion and her feelings towards the characters who supposedly created the content.

Other than that fantastic time in the 40k universe. Would recommend.

Excellent but at minimal times repetitive.

Traitors hand is great insight in slaaneshi and khornite cults and must read for input guard lovers.

Do you want grim dark? do you want combat? do you want gut wrenching hilarity that leaves you both stunned and amazed at the total bs antics a man in the Warhammer 40K universe can get up to? If you do then this book and by extension series is your one stop shop for all these things.

Ciaphas Cain is my spirit animal.
