About this listen

Audiobook four of the Ciaphas Cain series.

Listen to it because:

It's a tale of Cain alone (well, except for Jurgen, but he hardly counts), surrounded by enemies and desperate for a good cup of tanna tea....

The story:

Once again, reluctant hero Commissar Cain is catapulted into glory in the fourth instalment of this tremendously popular series. Escaping from a disastrous space battle, the commissar and his malodorous sidekick Jurgen crash-land behind enemy lines. Even the sly Cain can't avoid a straight fight this time, as the only way out is to round up what few troops they can find and fight their way back to safety. Unfortunately, hundreds of thousands of barbaric alien orks stand in their way.

the only thing I can pick at and I mean the only thing the audio book is amazing is the interjections by the female co-narrator being too often which wasn't a problem with the prior novels but in this one she states the obvious very frequently and sometimes right in the middle of a battle sequence. That said the interjections that do add actual clarity are very welcome and definitely add to the story's depth and character. Also consistently referencing source material is a little bit of a drag to listen to.

just tell me the story!

everything and everyone was great except for the excerpt Joe Jameson read. for a retired pdf solider Jameson's voice is too young it just sounded like a teen trying to put on an adult voice.

God every Cain story I listen to just has me glued to my seat, giggling away at his antics.... if GW is looking for ideas for a Warhammer+ show I would suggest a Cain inspired live action/cartoon..... possibly my favourite Cain story to date will definitely listen again.

you just can't hate Cain...
