    "Final book - didn't disappoint."

This is probably the best book in the trilogy. Up until now we have got to know Mara & the people around her so understanding her at this level for the storyline in this book is really important. This is her toughest challenge. In fact the whole book she is faced with trials & danger yet still it was not obvious as to what would occur.

The last 1.5 hours of this book had me in a constant state of emotions with happy & sad tears so I would suggest you listen to this final portion rugged up at home rather than to & from work as I did.

Tania is a superb narrator & brought the characters to life so well. I so pleased that she was a constant throughout all 3 books.

Loved this series, it's one of the best I've ever read.

    "Regarded as a brilliant standalone!"

I am not ashamed to say, I did not read the prequels to this Book 3 of the Empire Trilogy - Daughter of the Empire and Servant of the Empire. However, perhaps it's because I did not, that I found the Mistress of the Empire and the characters to be so unexpectedly fascinating and witty. Perhaps if I had read the other Books, I may not have been so frequently lost with the numerous names/characters, understood a little more of warring factions/houses and the true extent of the political and emotional turmoil experienced by the characters; I might have also appreciated the fantasy world so vividly described. Notwithstanding, because the authors possess such astounding skill and intellect, reflecting ever so often to events or issues that arose in the previous Books, I was able to absorb and thoroughly enjoy this Book 3, appreciating the different dynamics to the gripping tale; that of politics, altruism, economics (trade, commerce, slavery), war (fighting/action), culture ( rich, ingrained, different and competitive), romance, loss, loyalty, epic fantasy (featuring magic and mystical creatures), etc - this Book/Trilogy is so "all-encompassing", there's something to keep everyone engaged!!. I do not think reading the end of the Trilogy first will put me off reading the other Books, if anything, I'm now feeling compelled to start it from the beginning and will be excited to read the last Book again!!

    "Brilliant narration of brillians books"
Would you consider the audio edition of Mistress of the Empire to be better than the print version?

The suspense that builds up in the audio version at numerous key points feels even more intense than those same points in the print version. The depth of the characters is highlighted even more in the audio version,

What was one of the most memorable moments of Mistress of the Empire?

The realisation that the Choja are truly something special!

Have you listened to any of Tania Rodrigues’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Listened to all three books in this series. All are equally well narrated.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The epic story of an inspiring woman against impossible odds, striving to survive in a world with a strong and strange 1000's year history.

    Any additional comments?

Mara of the Acoma is one of the best developed and most inspiring heroic female characters in fantasy literature!

    "Masterful"

A brilliant ending to the trilogy. Jenny has encompassed all the previous books and the brilliant narration by Tania is so engrossing. I had time to read the previous 2 books but had omitted the final book as it wasn't completed so the opportunity to hear this in the car brought back many memories. Thanks audible

Excellent story that I've read a few times now. Narration is generally good but accents are distracting, especially the Thuril / Cornish!

    "Well Loved Story, Well Told"
Would you consider the audio edition of Mistress of the Empire to be better than the print version?

I find this an odd question. My own reading of this series was obviously different to Ms Rodrigues', that doesn't necessarily make it either better or worse. I enjoyed Ms Rodrigues' narration of this series, although there were some odd pronunciations, and mispronunciations of certain words and names.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Mistress of the Empire?

Impossible to say, since the whole series is memorable.

What about Tania Rodrigues’s performance did you like?

I was very pleased with Ms Rodrigues' performance of this series, as it is one of my favorites. Its always a little nerve wracking starting a new audio book, when it is a well loved story. You can only hope that the tale isn't ruined by poor narration. In this case, well done.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There isn't one in particular, but the death of Keyoke at the hands of the magician, Tapek. Also Mara suing for divorce from Hokanu. There many others, but those two stick in my mind.

    Any additional comments?

This is a series of books, which I read decades ago, and I have read them many times since that first reading. So I was pleasantly surprised when I found them as audio books. My one worry was that the narrator would spoil them, as has unfortunately happened with a few other well loved series. I'm happy to say that Tania Rodrigues did a good job of telling this epic story, so a big Thank you to her for that :-))
