Publisher's Summary

Vengeful assassins. A treacherous companion. T-Rex Head Hands.

After the Wolfman nation is shattered, Jaxon has enough spare time to advance his skills and specialize into a better class. Since Joe and his other teammates are either incapacitated or on a mission Jaxon does not believe in, the misunderstood chiropractor-turned-gamer strikes out on his own.

The issue with creating your own path is that you have no idea what awaits you, especially when low charisma guarantees legendary misunderstandings. For Jaxon, that’s half the fun.

Rexus is a Completionist Chronicles side quest focused on Jaxon and is meant to be heard following Regicide.

Luke Daniels did very well taking over!

I like Luke Daniels but when I saw vikas didn't narrate this book I fell immediately sad.. I didn't think it matched Luke's style at all, but he proved me wrong. What a wacky, fantastic performance. On top of that, this book made me laugh more than anything else I've ever read. So jump in guys... And prepare to laugh. Edit: After finishing the book, I came back to say if I could give it even more stars I would. I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out, it's going to be weird having our friendly chiropractor as just a side character again!

The new narrator can’t do female voices

Another entertaining story by Krout, but Luke Daniels just isn’t as enjoyable to listen to as the previous narrator Vikas Adam. Daniels has a great voice with most characters, very energetic and engaging... until he voices a female character. The female voices sound the same as male voices. I don’t even know the character speaking is female until the story references their gender. It’s very jarring and pulls me out of the immersion of the story when I realise the character I’m imaging as a male is actually female.

New Narrator was Great

The new Narrator did a pretty good job and I can see why Dakota chose him as a replacement. He did a good job of Jackson, if not less.so for Joe. I'm not sure if I will continue following any of Dakota Krout's newer books though. The new Dungeon books portrayal of Dayle for instance just sounded wrong. I can understand though that Vikas Adam's may have been unavailable. It's a great shame as he's what made me fall in love with the series, but that's business. I'll probably try the next book in This Series before deciding whether to consider continuing Dakota's other works.

enjoyable, but the way audible pricing works makes it hard to recommend this over other good books that are twice as long

Gloriously Funny.

A great installment of a fantastic series, I'm looking forward to the main story and im curious about how hoe will face the tower aswell. Although theres not much to say about the book its best just to have a listen yourself as it is an experience.

Love the book, disappointed by the new voice actor.

I loved this series and Jackson was one of my favorite characters. When I saw there was a new voice actor, I was sad, but decided to give it a shot. Unfortunately every character’s voice has changed so dramatically that they feel like completely new characters now. Jackson went from a lovably creepy guy, to sounding like a rich aristocrat. And it will be a shame if the few lines Joe and Bard had are indicative of what I can expect in the future. In addition, the voice actor seems to have only 2 different voices: Jackson, and literally almost every other character.

Great story, disappointed in the narrator.

I love Dakota Krout’s books, this one was a little different being a side quest but Jaxon was a great character to experience follow. You get to follow this crazy but lovable character and see the world from his point of view. Was very disappointed to get a new narrator. I feel Vikas Adam did a far better job than Luke Daniels. What bothered me most was the voice Luke used for Jess. If I didn’t know she was a woman I would have never guessed by the voice he used for her.

Please Bring Back Vikas Adam

Luke isn’t a bad narrator. But Vikas is just such a perfect fit for the voice of the worlds Dakota Krout creates, that I suspect no one could quite match It reminds me of the original audio release for Ghost Story in Dresden Files In the same way, for similar reasons, this is my least favorite audiobook by Dakota Krout. And I suspect Dungeon Eternium will end up right alongside it Please, pretty please, with sugar on top, re-record them both with Vikas Adam. I don’t care how long it takes for his schedule to free up for it. I think I speak for most of the people here when I say that we would all be happy to re-buy it if/when that happens

Disappointed

I have loved this series since book one. I got lucky that this one just happened to be based on my favorite character. Unfortunately I feel it didn't have the same affect due to the switch in Narrator. I have enjoyed other series this Narrator has done, I'm just not happy for the switch. When you get used to the characters and places sounding and being pronounced a certain way, it's hard to hear somebody else come In and change it. The story however was still really well written i thought.

Fantastic side story

Normally I am not a person who enjoys reading a side story but this one just blew me away. The combination of Luke Daniels and Dakota Krout is a fantastic combination so there’s no way to go wrong there. I’ve always found Jaxon a wonderful character. And he works so well with a side character who is a straight man his negatives on his character sheet just make him come a life

Strange Book, not a fan of the new narrator

The book was a bit weird; mostly from the story being somewhat of a different feel to the others, but also from the new narrator. The characters feel different with the new style. I am not a fan of how Luke does Joe.

Great book, but....

I wished they would have kept the same narrator. Nothing against Mr. Daniel's. but I prefer continuity of the narrator. It gives the story something more.

Geriatric chiropractor meets fantasy world! :)

What happens when a socially awkward geriatric chiropractor enters a virtual reality fantasy game to test experiments banned by medical safety experts? Pure hilarity! The game gives him a negative charisma score, which forces him to misunderstand and be chronically misunderstood by everyone in the game. Couldn't stop laughing! If you enjoy a quick pun-filled adventure that involves zingy humor, interesting LitRPG character builds, and interesting quest locations this is the book for you! Highly recommended that you read Dakota Krout's other Completionist Chronicle works first (Ritualist, Regicide, Raze). Happy Listening!

Painfully funny

I know his bad charisma score is a pretty serious bit of his character, but the dissonance between his perspective and everybody elses is painful. WORSE now that his class is going to actively sabotage him. Good thing the book as sidesplittingly funny. I was laughing myself horse ever 10 or 15 minutes. Lets hope Joe can at least remove the -1cha every other level debuff from his class.

The perspective of a low charisma chiropractor.

Before taking the other reviews to heart remember this; This book is from the perspective of a character who has below 10 in charisma. Everything he says, everything he hears and everything he sees is tainted by "Cal". From that perspective, give it a chance, enjoy the different voice actor and think "Oh dear god, THIS is what Jackson is really like!?". Great jokes, great acting and a nice change of pace before we go back to Joe.

Whoop

This was quite the adventure. I don't think I even spent 1 minute bored during the whole book. Be prepeared to experience the bizzare and get the opertunity to view Eternium from a diffrent perspektive. This is as much I feel I can say without spoilers.

Joe, Bard and Jess

I felt like Luke really buttered the voices of Joe and Bard in this book, I was able to get used to Jackson but when they met back up I could only cringe when Joe spoke, and the voice for Jess just felt off when she first showed up, the jokes and the story where awsome as always but I just cant see the characters I have grown to know with thies new voices.

So much fun to listen to

If you are not sure about it being a side story trust me you will not be disappointed the only bad bit is that it ended. I found the character and story immensely entertaining and funny. All I can say is do it, you won't regret it.

Bring back Vikas Adam!

Noooooooo! I loved the first two books and the fabulous narrator - so disappointed that Luke Daniels and his way over acted characters have destroyed the series. I stopped listening to other books narrated by Luke due to his very annoying character voices. Such a shame and a very poor decision by Tantor Audio.

A long wait and a bit of a disappointment

I was looking forward to this audio book as I am a big fan of the series but the change of narrator spoiled it for me. I got used to Jaxon but voice of Jess seems not quite right and Joe and Bard sound awful. Bring back Vikas Adam. Or someone with a similar voice and style. The story is interesting as we get some insight into Jaxon and learn a bit more about the game which is good. I look forward to the next book in the series.
