About this listen

In the peace and tranquility of the woods at Pinehills on a Saturday afternoon, a mobile phone begins to ring. The phone belongs to DC Smith, and it isn't unusual that the call is from Kings Lake Central police station; what is unusual is the fact that he seems to be the subject of an investigation rather than taking part in one. What can the links be between a prisoner's violent death in another county, the disappearance of two teenagers, and the highest profile case in Kings Lake for many years? As Smith and his team begin to untangle the threads, one thing becomes clear - they are dealing with some of the most dangerous people that they have yet encountered.

Excellent story. Spot on narration. Enough humour, intrigue and lyrical musing to beguile the listener:

Excellent

Great writing, great characters, excellent book. It is mostly well read but in my opinion the voice for DC Smith is the wrong choice and therefore for me a bit annoying. But that is a small thing compared to the story.

Wonderful

This was another great story, plenty going on to keep you listening. loved the plot characters, story, and a terrific narration.

Loved it

DC Smith’s dry humour, purposefulness and capacity to remain unruffled whilst engaging in both his private and work life makes for an unassuming adept detective. I’m ready for the next in the series.

Plenty to keep the reader/listener hooked

The storyline and the narration meld to provide an excellent way to actively occupy the mind whilst attending to the mundane activities of life. Just enough intrigue, police activity and criminal creativity to keep one hooked without the gory details keeping one from sleeping at night.

Another excellent Detective story.

Like all his books you can’t stop listening to. The characters are wonderful and story line compelling.

Doesn’t disappoint

So many well-written, funny, awkward, loveable characters, brought to life by an incredibly talented narrator.
I'm so glad I found this series. I hope there's more to come (and I hope someone is organising a TV series).

Another fantastic addition to the series.

In my view, Peter Granger's D C SMITH series surpasses both Holmes and Poirot, for here is a brilliant and tough detective with a tender heart. Thank you Mr Grainger.

Better than Holmes and Poirot

What else can one say ? Once again Peter Grainger presents an excellent story with just the right amount of humour . Thoroughly enjoyed narration by Gildart Jackson .... now onto the next one.
